Fictional League Ideas

Has anyone created any interesting leagues. Id like to start a new one but I dont know what to base it off. I have done an International, a local and I was thinking of doing a marvel league. So any other ideas from people??

Check out The Universal Baseball Association league, it's based off a book by the same title by Robert Coover

How about TV shows? Electric Companies? Fortune 500 Companies? Every team is a different color? Planets? They come to mind.

A few iterations ago, I created a fictional league that started in 1981, during the major league baseball strike. I made up a bunch of players, and made the league more like baseball in the earlier part of the 20th century, more speed and less power.

It was fun making up stories behind some of the guys as the league progressed and they were having good seasons. I also poached a few major leaguers as I went along (mostly guys that either fizzled out in the pros, or got hurt and didn't finish their careers).

I had a 24 team league, can't remember all the team names, but they were all around the country.
