Multiple leagues

I just got ootp 13 and started a fictional league. A lot of the options for set up were fine but I was wondering how having lots of leagues work. I figure the college and high school just provide players for the draft. but what happens with multiple major leagues. Is it similar to FM with multiple countries?? They all run but don't really affect each other.

Depends on your settings/setup. You can have them as independent or inter-related as you want. Which do you want them to be?

Oh that's cool. So how can two major leagues involve each other?? I'd really like to try that as it sounds like a weird way to play, which I like.

You can have them do any or all of the below (I may miss something, this is off the top of my head).

Trade between leagues
Sign each others' free agents
Hold common draft (requires the leagues to be associated)
Hold interleague playoffs (also requires association)

All those options should be in League Setup somewhere. If you can't find them I or someone else can help track them down.

How do you set up the association between leagues?? I have created two and I'd like them to play a couple games a year against each other a year and then play the final against each other.

Found the set up stuff. Thanks for the help though.

The association setup is under the Game menu. Note that you cannot hold regular season games between associations yet, only postseason.

One last question. Is there trading between leagues in an association. The way I have it is that each league has colleges and high schools for their drafts but afterwards I'd like players be able to move between leagues. Is it automatic or even possible??

Yes. Do not turn on the common draft. This will keep the feeders separate.

Do enable trading between major leagues and the ability to sign/lose free agents from/to other major leagues. These may be on by default, I'm not sure. I'm pretty certain that I had to disable them for a 5-league association I put together.

Thanks again for the help. The draft is working out quite nice after three years. Im still not sure if the trading is working though. It may be by default as I have looked through lots of options in the association set up and each league to see but I have found nothing. Is there any where that lists all the trades for a league?? I might look through them and find one thats inter league.

Edit: found it and the trades are working between leagues so it's all good.

One last thing, is there a reason I can't set an all star game for my college league. I keep ticking the box but it won't schedule and the becomes unticked again
