I like the default MLB settings. I've had my share of prospects stolen in rule 5, and for the most part, I only use it to load up my bench and bullpen (backup catchers are the worst whiners when they think they should be starting).
However, I have found some gems (like a guy who would give me 250 saves before moving on)....

I think that there are some common sense things that one should know before asking online, i'm sure I've breached those protocols once or twice myself. The OP probably should have read the manual. More importantly, it is to be expected that if a rookie should make a mistake (as happens quite often) that the veterans should give him/her a good ribbing for it. I saw nothing in the response that was all too inappropriate. The reaction however, was way over the top, and unnecessary. As far as post counts go, I'm not sure if that was to say that a veteran could get away with a tirade like that, I'm quite sure that they wouldn't.

Geesh, you have high standards.

Who shall decide what is "stupid"? And what treatment is justified of the OP if their post is deemed "stupid"?

This world would work much better if people stopped trying to impose their own values on everyone else.

Throwing a tantrum over an option that is easily turned off is stupid.
Calling a feature useless just because you don't like it is stupid.
Calling people names when you're the one acting like an idiot is stupid.

The fact that this thread is still going...........priceless

Just my opinion.

If it's high standards to ask people not to post misleading and inflammatory thread titles about the game, I plead guilty as charged. I guess it's ok for some to impose by posting false value judgements about game features but not ok to point this out.

You mean if basic human nature was repealed? Maybe so, but what would remain wouldn't really be human.

You are trying to defend the undefendable. Good luck with that.

there's so much bs in this thread its amazing
you might want to reread the thread, the "tantrum" was thrown till after there was a handful of poking fun posts with yes..still no answer to his question.
again to him the feature appears useless...its his opinion, what about that can't you understand ?
or is it that some of you are so thinned skinned that you can't take anothers opinion thats not the same as yours ?

btw i think your post was STUPID (see thats my opinion) and incorrect (see and thats fact)

It would be great to know how that thread would have developed if I hadn't given the answer. It's loosing a little bit since the thread starter isn't participating in this ... well, let's call it a "discussion".

Actually the second response to his question told him how to turn it off so maybe we both need to reread.

He's welcome not to like any feature he wants, he can even hate them but to start calling things useless is a bit much.
It's how you go about expressing your opinion that matters, you act like a child you get treated like one.

If you think that's stupid then good for you.

The very first person to respond to him answered his question by telling him to turn the rule 5 draft off. He stated his opinion, people responded. Isn't that what a message board/forum is for?

I've participated on other message boards (not OOTP-related) where the OP could've been banned for 24 hours for asking a question with an answer that's easily found in the game manual. I've also participated on boards where those who "poked fun" (myself included) at the OP could be banned for 24 hours or longer. I think the fact that neither of those things happens here is a good thing.

If any of us are looking for a message board where neither of those things -- poor questions and poor responses (both of which are subjective observations) -- happen, then we're going to spend a lot of fruitless hours looking for it.

By and large, this is a very helpful community, which is why I read these boards every day. Do most questions get answered? Yes. Do some people get picked on/shot down? Yes. Should people with thin skin post on message boards? I'm not so sure.

no I agree with that statement completely !!!
but if your saying that his title to the thread reflects him acting like a baby, well then I disagree
After all, all this would have been avoided with a simple answer to a simple question, that is another fact.

Post counts mean nothing. Time registered means nothing. I've played OOTO since the first iteration. FPS before that. Micro League before that. Now we are back to 1983 and APBA.

Just be nice and answer the guy's question. If you really were half as smart as you think you are you'd say "sorry" to the guy right away.

Also, you do realize you are harming the product itself by treating people like that, right?

Ignore them, Jeff.

That was my thinking also, as far as the game and possible new players and the such.
I can tell you theres plenty other forums with ppl on it that rip this forum for exactly what happened in this thread. I have read about it for years unfortunately.
Big17easy last post sums things up best tho.

reddawg you are now trolling.

But seriously, the question was a stupid one. Read the fracking manual! A lot of time is put into that thing, it is easy to access, it is easy to navigate. Look at it, try and figure it out. This game is not rocket science, it is actually quite intuitive in terms of customizing a league.

So I guess we should have just posted RTFM and moved on.
