Pitcher Stamina

I just saw a pitcher pitch 9 innings, throwing a total of 145 pitches. He didn't get tired until 140 pitches, and he has an endurance of 6 (2-8 scale). The pitcher fatigue is on "low" setting in the strategy/modifiers. Should it be set to "very low"?

"For a knuckleballer, a pitch count of 150 is not a problem. Unless it's the first inning."

It's by design. A knuckball doesn't strain the arm nearly as much as other pitches, thus why they can have significantly higher pitch counts.

Yes. How else do you think I was able to pitch until I was 46? And, actually, if it wasn't for my degenerative hip condition, I might have made it to 50.

I'm seeing just the opposite in my 50s league. Previously rested pitchers with above average Stamina are showing Tired or even Exhausted after a few innings. And this in an era when hurlers were still warhorses. I've learned to leave them in until they reach Totally Exhausted; lesser states seem to have little or no effect on performance. Certainly the AI follows this guideline and appears reluctant to yank 'em until the later ininngs. This appears unique to 13.

Yes I posted on this problem a while back. Something is off! When you go to the line up scene after just a couple of pitches it wil show the SP is exhausted. Yet on the game scene for the SP it shows his status as O.K. I do think this effect perofrmance ... leaving the SP in until he is totally exhausted seems weird as well. Thanatoast

I wonder if the engine is applying modern pitch counts effects to older eras of baseball. It would explain why there's been little comment on this phenomenon given that most users tend, presumably, to play Modern.

What Toast is writing about is just a cosmetic issue. When playing a game, it's the in-game display that counts, not the display in the player's profile (which is basically just telling you that he's going to be exhausted after today).

Yes, there is a cosmetic issue. IGNORE the fatigue status on the pitcher's profile once you have started to manage a game. This shows his status for AFTER the game. As stated, the only status that matters is the one on the in-game screens.
