Does it seem like there are a lot of leftys in OOTP13?

Is it just me or is the percentage of left handed players being created more than a little unrealistic? I'm 10 years into a 26 team fictional league and I am literally hip deep in left handed power hitters. And left handed pitchers are as common as rain at a Marlins game (before this year).

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the percentage of left handers in the general population only 20%? In OOTP these days it's more like 50%.

Is this a bug? Is there a way to correct it?

Is there a league-wide influx of lefties or is it just your team?

It's pretty widespread. I'd say 40% of all the rosters in the majors & minors are left handed.

I've noticed teams being able to make entire lineups of Lefthanded and switch hitting batters, which seems unlikely to be that common in RL (it probably happens, but I don't watch a huge amount of RL baseball...)

In 2009, 28.5 percent of MLB hitters batted left-handed.

According to OOTP itself, OOTP MLB play (modern and historical) outnumbers OOTP fictional play three to one.

Five thousand thanks for a non-modder? I never thought I'd see the day. Thank you for your support.

OOTP is higher than MLB. It has been that way as far back as v6. I did whine about it but not persistently enough

My MLB type fictional league has 39% LHB (not including S). MLB in 2011 had 32%. That surprises me Wolf's data was what I expected.

I've noticed it too. 3 teams in my fictional league had starting lineups consisting entirely of lefties.

85% of our online league utilizes this strategy.

I figured I would check out my fictional league in its 79th season spread over 5 game versions to see how many lefty batters it has had.

Out of 5503 Players:
Right-3218 (58.5%)
Switch-535 (9.7%)
Left-1750 (31.8%)

Seems okay to me, but that may just be my league.
