Huge scouting problem
Okay, so this game is literally the most addicting and amazing game I've ever played, it's awesome. However, I'm not a fan of all the fog of war thrown around by scouts, I prefer to build my team off pure ratings. I also really enjoy building a brand new team from the expansion draft screen. Though I have my qualms with the expansion draft, it's the scouting that's killing me. I've turned off scouting entirely in the game options menu, and I go to draft Aaron Crow. It says he is a SP who is 39/53, so I draft him and he instantly becomes a 20, I couldn't figure this out for awhile so I started poking around and tried out the 100% accurate scouting ratings. Well the 100% accurate ratings are different than the ratings I'm getting when I'm turning scouting off entirely, when both are supposed to give "true" ratings. Roy Oswalt switches a full 10 points, I've messed with all the settings I could find and I simply couldn't find a logical reason for it, so I'm hoping someone here can shed some light on the problem for me. This is with the brand new patch by the way. Thanks if you can help me out, or at least give me a clue as to what's making me wacko.

Can't explain the discrepancy but I have a question. You've turned off scouting to can eliminate uncertainty and experience the 'purity' of real baseball. In what way does this replicate actual baseball? Scouting, with its uncertainties and imperfections, has been an integral part of the game from the beginning. And how is it realistic to know a player's precise evaluation down to the hundredth percentile? Seems rather godlike.
Don't mean to pick on you, there is a segment of users that shares your approach. Good luck! |

A couple of things to keep in mind that may be affecting this. Turning scouting off in itself does not give you true ratings. It means teams will not have individual scouts and you can't set scouting budgets. The game still has one scouting system that it uses for all players (called the OSA or something like that). This is why turning off scouting and true ratings are separate options. (This is also why you will still see scouting reports under player pages even with scouting off.)
A player's ratings will be different depending on how he is used. For example, a pitcher will have different ratings when he is a starter or a closer depending on how well he can perform in that role. Check to make sure the AI is not changing the role/position of the player once you sign him. |
