Where are all the Jews?

I created an international league in Israel, no foreigners, and every single player has an Arabic name. All I want is a little Mo Green or Saul Schwartz playing shortstop. Seriously, is there no Hebrew name file out there?

Here's one I've been using. Forgot who made the original, but I've been constantly modifying it. I made it Name Set # 39 in my game, so you'll have to change that if you decide to use it (and you're using 39 for something else).

'tross, thanks for the prompt response, but somebody has to ask, "What's with the change in avatar, 'crack?" What are we supposed to glean from that?

He thinks Bruce Springsteen is Jewish because of his last name. So he thought he was going to be in his Israeli league and be his ace starter

Hey, the commissioner will give him an exemption, half the E-Street band lights the Menorah.

Play historical for Jewish names. You have Moe Berg (he knew many languages and couldn't hit in any of them). You have Sandy Koufax. You have Shawn Green. You have Hank Greenberg. And there are probably others.

In fact, there is a set of baseball cards (I forget who put it out) of all the Jewish ballplayers in history. I have it in a storage locker back in Canada. Let's just say it has less than 500 cards in the set.

And all the Jews are in China with me. Oh wait, I'm the only Jew here. It get's confusing.

Well, after all, a fourth of Israelis is arab and some people think it should be 100%. Maybe that got into the game somehow.

Unfortunate implications regarding the lack of jews aside, the namesets do perhaps leave a bit to be desired (wasn't there a thread a while ago regarding the Balkans on a similar issue?). I think the main issue is the limit of 40 of them.

And so does me. Oh...and by the way...Sandy Koufax...best left hander and best Jewish player in baseball history!

And you would certainly be right. I don't know if this limit will ever be raised, but I believe Markus has said that it's highly unlikely and would be a major undertaking.

Two of my grandkids are currently on a trip to China. They are 1/4 Jewish. Does that count?

They have to live here for it to count. And if they lived here then it's only 1/2 a Jew. So I guess that could be Paul Newman or Goldie Hawn (thanks to Adam Sandler).

Oy, there's more? If I would have known I'd have invited you for a Seder.

I'm in Jiangsu province in the small town of Jurong (population 600,000). Small town here has a different meaning here. Where are you? Maybe we can start a Jewish/Chinese baseball league.

And I recommend the book "Pitching In The Promised Land" to everyone. It's the actual story of the one year life of the only Professional baseball league in Israel.

Excuse me..... umm.... WARREN EDWARD SPAHN

2nd-best ERA+ of any pitcher of live ball era with 5000+ IP. Most 20+ win seasons. Most complete games/shutouts by a left-hander. 2nd-highest WAR by a lefty. He kept it up for a 21-year career in which he lost what would have been his 2nd, 3rd and 4th seasons fighting in WWII, where he was the most decorated ball player in history.

Would you like something to read?
Do you have anything light?
How about this leaflet, "Famous Jewish Sports Legends?"

haha! not been waiting but always ready to defend my favorite player.

I have to justify the thousands of dollars I have invested in his baseball cards and memorabilia.
