it may be for another team in the universe? you'll have to go into commissioner mode and add some players. i had that problem when i started an independent world league and the computer was not smart enough to just sign some players on its own.

I am using version 13.2.6 and I use associations. I started over and deactivated playoff rosters and have expanded roster set at 40. I simmed again and after about 4 years I get the error again. I look at the team and the active roster says 40/25 and others say 40/40. It seems there is a glitch that seems to come up where one team does not change properly. is there anything I can do to fix this or is this something that has to be fixed in a patch.

anyone no why this is happening. It gets hard to sim when every so often it with the same error. Everything looks fine. A teams roster is fine. If I move a player out of the active roster it works again, even though the roster at the time I moved out showed the right number of players so there should not have been an error

I am getting the same issue in a Historical Game (1994), just after the roster expansion date, a minor league team has an illegal number of players (8). Do I have to create a new manager as a Commish to fix this (as it is not my team)?

find the "do not allow roster changes" check box. it was on the team edit screen in ootp12 (i think.) click that box until the season is over with, and let the AI try again the next season. the team will roll with any "illegal" players you may have put on the team, and your game should sim on without problems.

I'm confused. I'm testing a 5-league association setup with reserve rosters. Getting the illegal number of players (25) error for one team. It's in the middle of the association playoffs, and the active roster shows 30/30 and the playoff roster shows 25/25. I pulled players off the active roster so it read 25/30 and still get the error. Tried acting as the team (I'm only the commish in this league) and having the AI set the entire roster and no go. I'm completely mystified.
If I take the active roster down to 24, will that affect the team's playoff roster? Deleted that test league and tried it again. Same issue, different team (but from the same league). I checked all the roster settings and they were in order. Tried taking the active roster down to 24, no go (did not affect the playoff roster, btw). However, I think I found the problem. In this test (and presumably the other one), the Northeast champ is playing the Southeast champ. After season 1, the Southeast league changed the active roster size to 24. I changed them back to 25 and the game simmed forward fine. So apparently you have to make sure both sides are playing with even rosters in association playoffs or it won't go forward.
