Hi there everybody, apologies if this has been posted in the wrong section of the forum.

I started a game in 1871 and when I reached the ML roster expansion date, I got the above error when I tried to advance to the following day.

"Washington has an illegal number of players on the active roster! (6)"

No matter what I try it won't let me advance.

I'm playing as the Philidelphia Athletics and even tried resigning to see if that would let me advance but still no luck!

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Run the AI manager on Washington. This should correct the problem.

Washington don't appear to have a team which is really confusing me.

I'll have another look though just to make sure.

edit: Nope, Washington don't appear to have a team.

Are there minor league teams in that league?

Yes, but I can't see any errors with any of them.

Try enabling ghost players and then advancing.

The option is called "Allow incomplete minor league rosters" or something similar.

I know the following will no doubt be a stupid question but I am new to the game: What steps do I take to get to this option?

Under the league menu, select "League Setup", then the "Options" tab.

The checkbox you want is about halfway down on the left side.
