My contribution to OOTP
I have been tirelessly testing PCM's for international league for the better part of a year now, and I have come up with what I feel are very good numbers to warrant adding international leagues to an existing OOTP universe. I have not just tested PCM's, but also financial settings and other things. One thing that has me a bit stuck is that Cuba doesn't really have a financial system, but yet any league without one, cannot have it's players migrate to other leagues(fee agency) not sure how to tackle this in a realistic manner with the current settings we have....but I digress...what I want to do is start a very serious dialogue about how we can start creating OOTP worlds.(as opposed to just a MLB world) I believe this may very well be the future focus of upcoming versions of OOTP, and I feel it would really help things to go much smoother (as this is very complicated) if we all began having this conversation in one concentrated area, and almost begin beta testing before there is even a new code for it, so we can all take a proactive approach to implementing this. I will post my new recommendations for PCM's very soon. The reason why I beleive this is because I can tell there has been "some" work in this area since OOTP12...no longer are too many good players being generated in foreign leagues, and it appears the PCM's are now working correctly, and as designed. This actually is making for a huge difference in "world" leagues..or associations. The new associations feature is also making it possible to create a carribbean eerie, as we'll as an Asia series. I am going to explore the ideas of putting the US and canada into an association so that players might be able to be drafted by US teams (but markus has to come out with the ability for feeders first) My point is that we are clearly heading into some uncharted territory, but I also feel this territory is welcome, and will make OOTP the greatest sports sim of all time. (yes, even surpassing FM) I finally feel as though some of my constant harping has made a difference in OOTP 13. I really feel we are all on the edge of greatness. In one or two more versions, I feel OOTP is going to be a product that will be very hard for "mainstream society" to ignore. Cheers Markus!! I feel you have really arrived with this version!!
Sincerely, Your some times harshest critic (only because I want the best for this product) Hey if I didn't care, I wouldn't be here. EDIT: I want to do this because I am in awe of the so many modders out there who put so much time an effort into making OOTP a greater experience...I am not much of an artist, but I feel I can help in areas ssh as this. But I would like to say thank you to all of those who create stadiums, uniforms, logos and so many other little things that help make OOTP the most immersive and addicting GM simulation on the market. EDIT: unfortunately I have all too often taken a negative approach in pointing out what OOTP doesn't have, that I think it should. The truth is I really feel I have some fantastic ideas for th future of OOTP, and realize I need to take a constructive approach in conveying my ideas. This I promise from now on: to be a constructive, but also opinionated creative influence and help for this franchise. Right now, using ratings greater than potential, OOTP is a 12/10...but I still want to see a 20/10 Last edited by PSUColonel; 04-16-2012 at 03:01 PM. |

Your post on the Cuban monetary system was interesting. With them having two types of monetary coin, maybe you could use the standard convertible peso as the mandatory method of currancy to be paid players. Since this peso is the one used by forgein tourists, you might have to have an exchange rate set to convert these monies and use those calculations for potential salary offerings, etc.
Until Cuba has sanctions lifted, maybe use the German exchange rate for their currancy? Please don't ask Ozzie for his advice on this thread.

All of this sounds great, however, what is a PCM? I searched the manual but no results.

This is the sort of thing that I'm interested in doing with OOTP 13 as well. I'd love to see some sort of guide for putting this together. Looking forward to upcoming posts by you on the subject.

I'm thinking about trying a large universe too, with a smaller US league and added international leagues (I've had problems with large leagues crashing so will limit league size somewhat to compensate). I'm fudging somewhat on the finances by combining teams from different countries into other leagues; for instance the Cuban team(s) will be in a league with teams from the DR and Puerto Rico. I haven't decided yet whether I want the US league to be much richer than the other leagues or not; when I've added international leagues to an MLB world I've usually used finances copied from the Mexican league or something to keep the MLB stars from defecting. I'll definitely be reading along.
