Venezuela Region

What's the best region to use for a league that is based mainly out of Venezuela. I would also want a lot of players coming from Cuba, DR, PR, Panama, Colombia

I tried using the latin america region but most of the players come from Brazil even though all my teams are based out of Venezuela and Colombia. Plus brazil isn't even known for their baseball. Anyone know of a region to use that's better or how to edit the regions.

Yes, there is apparently a flaw in the way players are generated for certain regions. We'll have to look into this and see if something can be done about it in a patch.

In the meantime, the next best choice after the Latin America region would probably be the Caribbean region. It includes all the Caribbean islands, plus Central America, and the northern part of South America.

Also, once you've set the region, try setting the home nation to the country you want most of your players to come from. I'm not sure whether this will help or not, but I've notice the home nation often resets to some rather illogical places once the region is set, so this could possibly be part of the problem. I haven't checked it yet, myself. Please let me know if this helps.

Isn't the player generation weighted by population? That would probably explain why most players are coming from Brazil, since it's quite populous.

Ah the carribean region is a bit better, couldn't spot the sneaky bastard.
I already had the country changed to Venezuela, hopefully there is a way to edit the league or a patch will adjust the game so at least a lot of players will still come from where the majority of the teams are located in the league!

i think you could just choose venezuela as your home nation for the league and then sey forienger precentage to 0.
I did this for a puerto rico league and I have all puerto ricans generated!
you don't really need a region for what you want...leave it blank

Hope that helps

I've done that before, but I want my league to be bringing in the very best from the DR, PR, Cuba and Venezuela, I want a league to represent those powerhouse countries. I have most of my teams from Venezuela right now, but I expect to add in a few from those countries. I just want my players coming from this nations and not Brazil or Chile ha.

You can go into the world_default.xml file and remove the countries from Latin America that you don't want and add any that you do.

Its fairly simple to do and should only take 10 minutes.

First, make a backup of world_default.xml. Then open the file with DashCode (my iMac does this automatically). It's a big file and will take a minute to load.

Do a search (find, command+f) for "Latin America". It will take you to a place that looks like this:

<REGION id="42" sort_order="1100" name="AMERICAS: Latin America">
<REGION_NATIONS>
<REGION_NATION id="9" />
<REGION_NATION id="25" />
.
.
.
<REGION_NATION id="210" />
</REGION_NATIONS>
</REGION>

The really important stuff is the list of nations in the region, <REGION_NATION id="x"/>. Each nation has a unique NATION id number. For instance, search for NATION id="9" and you will find that 9 represents Argentina. By deleting the line <REGION_NATION id="9"/>, you delete Argentina from the Latin America region.

Rather than adjusting this region, I would recommend using this as a template to make your very own "Venezuela League" region. Thus:

<REGION id="500" sort_order="1105" name="AMERICAS: Venezuela League">
<REGION_NATIONS>
<REGION_NATION id="49" />
.
.
.
<REGION_NATION id="210" />
</REGION_NATIONS>
</REGION>

I gave your region a high REGION id number (it comes with 142) and set the sort_order so that your region will appear in a list just after the Latin America region. You will have to fill in what other countries you want in your "Venezuela League" region: the two that I included are Cuba (49) and Venezuela (210).

Hope this helps!

Hey the carribean region works fine, it has all the countries I want. But the majority of players are coming from mexico. Is there any way to edit a region so a certain percentage of players come from one country.

For whatever reason there are so many Mexican baseball players in the carribean league and even my american league, even though in real life Venezuela, DR, and cuba produce many more baseball players.

Lower the quality of play for Mexico. I'm guessing that Mexico, Venezuela, Cuba, and DR are all set to a high quality of play, which means that Mexico (which has over twice the population of Venezuela, Cuba, and DR combined) has a big advantage.
