Prospects not progressing?
Confused about something and I'm sure I'm missing it...but I have several decent to great prospects in my fictional organization. I made sure to assign them to the levels the SIM told me to...I simmed through an entire calendar year to go through all of the steps and get used to the game...
Anyways, not one of my prospects (good or otherwise) has gotten any better. What am I doing wrong? I invest more than the league average in player development. I promote them when they are doing well at their level and when the SIM says they are ready. Just confused why all of my 1 star/5 star and 1 star/4 star guys have not increased their star rating at all? I am playing on 100% ratings accurate. Thanks for any and all help! |

Have their ratings changed? Wait until 1/1 when OSA scouts players and look at their histories and see if any of the ratings have changed.
Also, I don't think just 1 year is a large enough sample size to say their ratings aren't increasing. |

Star ratings are relative to the rest of the league. They are more less a guide. They're not like overall ratings of traditional console games.

I waited until spring training started just to make sure and the ratings had to changed. I will go back and Doublecheck because maybe I did get hung up on the stars not increasing.

Thanks for the reply....can you go into a bit more detail. I am used to other text sims, not just consoles, where the better a player gets, the more their stars increase.

If he's considered a "4-star player" in your league, he improves, and everyone else improves too, he's still a 4 star player.

Is that what typically happens with prospects? As they are getting better, the rest of the world is too so you can technically have "star" type prospects/players who are only rated 1 star?

Well i finally got a chance to go back in and see that the OSA did update ratings for certain players. Glad to see I missed that. Honestly, the star thing still confuses me (sorry about that, not sure why I'm having such an issue with understanding it)

Not sure if this matters, but make sure you have the top prospects report set to "dynamic" instead of annually.

That won't matter. His issue isn't with the top prospect list not moving. It's the individual players star ratings not moving.
There's a few options in how star ratings are calculated and they can be altered in the game setup screen. I believe the default is based on AI evaluation against players in the universe in their position. The AI evaluation includes stats by default and I believe only MAjor league stats (or at least they're weighted appropriately) So prospects are usually less stars to begin. If your prospect is a SS and your universe has a slew of quality SS his star rating will reflect the flux of talent on this setting. I play so that the star ratings reflect all players in the universe regardless of position. Even that has its own issues. I guess I generally use stars differently. If a player has anything more than one star For current or potential he's usually worth looking deeper into. Otherwise I just ignore the player. This isn't flawless. But it helps me as a point of reference especially in fictional leagues. |

If a player has 1* OVR and multiple * POT it means they have potential talent to grow into. Depending on their age and a number of other factors they may fulfill their potential.

Do you have scouts on or off?
