Scouting....on or off?

I need some help OOTP lifers! I've owned a few versions but have never been completely drawn in which boggles the mind since I love baseball and text sims. Not sure if anyone else plays but Hardball Dynasty at whatifsports.com is one of my favorite games of all time and have a few teams over there.

Anyways...I can't decide to go with scouting or not and was hoping to get some of the long time OOTP players thoughts on the subject. If I did turn scouting off thenid go with 1-5 or 2-8 to still keep a "fog of war."

I just keep getting frustrated with the sometimes wild swings in ratings from season to season. Even my scout changed his mind completely about several players in my fictional universe between the time when I drafted them to when we started playing games.

The last wrinkle is I do like the idea of limited international scouting. It is cool to find those undiscovered gems and realize I'd be giving that up if I turned scouting off. Side note question about this feature...I thought. Had intl scouting turned way down (5%) but received half a dozen emails about players mys first month including a couple "stars." does that sound right? Also do the ai teams take advantage of these features or does it give the human player a leg up?

Sorry for the essay! Thesis a great forum with really helpful posters so appreciate you taking the time to read this.

At least as international scouting is concerned. There is a new 100% accurate for "scouts" so you will always have the correct ratings, but still have scouts on and can find those gems.

It's what I'm running right now, just playing around with real ratings on or off, or just potential, and the AI settings for how they evaluate a player.
