I have used Gambo's database quite a bit in previous versions. I like to have the high school rookies imported to their original / signed team. When I have used the Spritze/Gambo version, it appears as if a lot of these players import as free agents.

I got it to work on my old laptop, but when I switched to a new computer, I am back to square one.

What am I doing wrong?

So, my objective is this ...

I want to play so that historical players are assigned to the appropriate teams at the time they are drafted (or 18 years old?) as opposed to re-drafting them. I play with the draft turned off so that rookies should be automatically assiged to the appropriate teams. I used to be able to play that way with Gambo's database, but with the Gambo/Spritze db rookies import as free agents with the draft disabled.

Spritze, does one of your databases do this? I am playing with 12.

Thanks!!!

The Gambo db should do what you want but he only goes back to the 1970's or so. Before then a great many players did actually start out on independent teams.

I'd need to know what year you are starting with to give you more help.

I usually plan 70's or later. Does Gambo have a DB that works with version 12? I have not seen that.

Yes, he does.

I do not use it so I do not know where you can find it. Sorry.

Maybe on one of the OOTP Mods sites.

WIth 13, they don't seem to work if you are importing using the master.csv (modified or not) and have removed the odb files.

Would you still be able to adjust the csv files like the master/batting/pitching (and have them effect the game/players) if you leave the odb files or will the import season be controlled by the odb files?

the odb overrules the master.csv.

delete the odb and the master takes over

without the odb you cannot usually import previous history.

It seems to be if you eradicate the odb, the master will not be successful in its transformation of your league to a workable unit of statistical sporting.....

Think I may have found my answer to the below question here:
http://manuals.ootpdevelopments.com/...torical_wizard
Will try out when I get home tonight.

In doing a little quick analysis of the various database master files. It appears what I want is the "SpritzeNoAsiansDB forOOTP12" with Neutralized Stats turned on. But I'm still not quite sure.

-----------------------------------------------------

Need a little help here, please.

- Game version: the new one, v13.
- I used the Gambo/Spritze DB for OOTP 12.
- Setting up historical 1973, but with development turned on.

When I did this using Free v8 and the "Gambo's OOTP 2008 DB v3" with that handy little tool to set up 1973 files as a test over the past month, I had several more players in my league. Which is what I'm looking for. I want a lot of real players in the minors and such.

When comparing the two leagues, looks like the "Gambo's OOTP 2008 DB v3" gave me players who were in the minors in 1973 and players who played in 1972 but must have retired before 1973 or just finished out their careers in the minors. The Gambo/Spritze DB for OOTP 12 didn't do that.

Also found a few players who for whatever reason took a few years off, probably in the minors, then were called back up to the Majors down the road. These players were on the retired list with the Gambo/Spritze DB for OOTP 12.

Is there a setting I'm missing when starting up the league?

Should I be using a different Spritze or Gambo database?

Do I need to edit something in the csv files to get what I'm looking for? I'm pretty good with excel so this wouldn't bother me at all, just not sure what needs to be done.

Maybe delete some retirement dates? Would that be it? But that doesn't explain the deal with the player who comes back into the league down the road being retired already as I checked him and he did have a retirement date after 1973.

You've got to neutralize them grasshopper.......

(I see you've found the answer on your own, but I always wanted to say that in a answer.......)

New Version available for OOTP13

New version of the full high school db available in the usual place.

Neutralized fielding improved for all players.

Works with OOTP12 as well.

Added full (real) minor league stats and equivalencies for all players 1871-1900. So now most 19th century players have their real skill set.

If you want a no asians version just use the no asians master.csv from the OOTP12 version of that db.

I don't see it on OOTPMODS yet.

Is there a different "usual place"?

No ODB available as that ability no longer is accessable in OOTP13. So don't try to import complete history. It'll crash.

If you want a no asians version just use the no asians master.csv from the OOTP12 version of that db.
What is meant by no ODB? If I use your improved ootp13 files, alongside the Gambo/Spritze 12 files... superseding those files with your 13 files, you think it will work ok?

ODB files are re-available. I plan on creating it today. You'll need to redownload the db.

Spritze, could I get the link as well to download the new database? I've been around since v2 but just returned after about 5 years and trying to get the best db to use for my historical career. Thank you in advance!
