Bug (that I don't want fixed lol)

EDIT: This is for 2011 version.

So I'm pretty sure this is a bug, let me explain how to recreate it.

The bug is in the player trading system. When you go to add players to a trade from your own team, if you add 2 players (any 2) and then hit "Make this work for me" it will bring up a list of players that you can add. However, you can then go and add a player off the list but not through the list of players that pops up. What will happen is you will have 3 players in the trade and the trade will be accepted, however the game still applies the "Make this trade work" feature since you didn't use the feature to add a player. Since the third player pushed the trade to acceptable, the list of players from the "Make this trade work" feature includes a bunch of mediocre players. What you can then do is add a mediocre player from the list and you will then have 4 players involved in the trade. Then, you can go remove that 3rd and final player that pushed the trade to acceptable and you will still have an open space for the third player from your team, but if you look at the trade text that 4th player is still included. You can repeat this process to add up to 10 players (I think that's the limit) and it completely boosts your teams trade value so that you don't have to actually include any of your stars.

Using this method I've been able to consistently trade a mix of mediocre players & aging stars for a 21 year old 5 star quality SP. I'm talking trading 9 40 year old MRs and maybe one 28 year old 4 star LF for a 21 year old 5 star potential SP who is already developed 4 stars or more.

It's kind of hard to explain, and it may not even be a bug, but by doing this you can still offer more than 3 people to a team for a trade.

Sounds like your guilty conscience is forcing you to confess your exploitation of the trading AI.

I think that in general it's easier than it might be to fool the AI to come up with very favorable trades.

I have too much Catholic guilt to abuse the game in this way, so I tend to be very restrictive in terms of how/when I propose trades and benefit from the resulting transaction. I try to arrange it so that both teams get something out of the deal(s).

Although I like to build a juggernaut as much as the next guy, if the game is too easily tricked by my wheeling dealing, I kind of lose interest...

But to each his own, whatever makes it fun, right?

I rembember that I in one game managed to trade for Buster Posey and Brandon belt for a couple of three star MRs and a two star OF. Good deal for med, not so much for the Giants.

I know, usually the trades are pretty fair until I start doing the glitch. Most of the time I actually use it to offload 1 star guys cluttering my minors so I can get some sort of value for them.

Those guys are pretty old and their contracts can cause some teams to want to get rid of them cheaper than what you would let them go for. I was able to make trades for studs who are still in their first or second year of arbitration.

Belt is 23, Posey is 24, and you consider them pretty old?
