Money to sign coaches comes FROM????

How is it "figured" how much money you have to sign coaches/scouts/managers?

I have a team in my online league that is under the cap, has 5 million, and can't sign a coach over 300K a year. What gives? I have been bashing my head over this for days and would LOVE if anyone has an explanation.

I thought it was cash on hand, but that's obviously not true unless my league is bugged.

pllleeaase help

The money you have available for signing free agents and coaches = last year's revenue - this year's payroll + cash

Do you have your financial report handy? If so post the numbers.

I have no idea, I think FA coaches are same amount as regular FA's so you use same cash, but I am no where near positive.

There was a thread regarding just that a few days ago. Scott - you might want to read this one too. Only 5 replies, but Chipper, you're not the only one in that situation.

No matter how much cash you may have at hand if last year's revenue plus that cash at hand does not exceed what your payroll is expected to be in the new season you are not going to have any money to sign free agents.

Therefore:

$$ to sign Free Agents = (Last Year's revenue + Cash) - This Year's Expected Payroll if and only if (Last Year's Revenue + Cash ) > This Year's Expected Payroll otherwise $$ to sign Free Agents = 0.

Note: You need to account for changes in Broadcasting Revenue ie. if your Broadcasting Revenue is less for the upcoming year you have to subtract the difference from $$ to sign Free Agents. Also Last Year's revenue does not include any playoff revenue.

If I am wrong please correct me but that's my understanding of it.

Here's another question -

You sign a coach. Does that money (his salary) go into player expenses per year or does it go into actual payroll?

Also....last question if you waive a player that has a 4 year contract, does his "buyout" hit your player expense all in the same year, or is the buyout spread over the term of what would be his contract?

(Example - someone cuts a guy with a 4 year 3 million dollar contract. Does the 12 million hit your players expense that year, or does 3 million hit your player expenses for the next 4 years)

Answer to first question:

The salary you pay your coach (or scout) goes into total payroll for this year.

Answer to your second question:

12 mil will go into this year's player expenses.

I don't have a link and I don't know how to post it, so:

Last year revenue: 75,294,931
This year payroll: 73,489,900
Cash: 5,000,000

This sucks, I could live without grabbing any FAs but I need coaches.

There's a way around this, cut your payroll beneath that of last years earnings and you will have money to sighn coaches.
