Pitcher getting skipped, no matter where I slot him?

I never noticed this before. Just getting back into OOTP 12 with the season coming up.

A couple seasons ago, I noticed that one of my lower end starters would NEVER be put into the game, no matter what. I could put him in any rotation slot, set it to strict order, and the system would always start someone else. Typically it would start a random reliever.

If I move him to the pen, he would NEVER enter any game.

No, he isn't injured or retired!

The only way that pitcher would EVER enter a game, is if I didn't quick play it. If I manage it, he can be put in the game.

Ideas?

Go into commissioner mode an in the players edit tab you may find an uncleared injury

have you gone into editor to confirm they aren't injured?
if so then ignore what i said as i don't know what is wrong

sadly, that was not the case.

This happened once before, but it was to a lesser arm that I just dealt away for equal value.

But, this time it is happening to my #2 starter that went 16-7 last year. And he's young and cheap. I need him.

no ban checked or anything that would even look like it would prevent him from playing even if it's checked and set to 0?
Any storyline that might be blocking him though i'm just taking a wild guess on this?
If you let the AI set the roster does he still get placed in the rotation?

nothing at all that would prevent him from playing. no injury, no suspension, etc. he's as normal as can be.

the AI slots him as my #2 starter when the manager sets the rotation.

I know I'm a little late to this thread, but I had the same problem and I think I found the solution.

As Commissioner, select the Player profile and go to the "Editor" tab. Scroll down to the DtD-Injury Effect (in %) field. If he truly isn't injured, then this should be 0. If it's anything else, change it to zero and then try the pitcher in the rotation again.

Hope this helps.
