Scouting Director Change
Hey Guys,
In one of my online leagues, I looked at all the team's scouting director's in my league and they are all Excellent and up in every category. Mine is decent in one and outstanding in 1 and good in two others. Obviously I don't have as good a scouting director as the other teams. I've looked at the available personnel and there are some much better scouting director's out there. My question is, if I fire my current scouting director and hire a new one with better ratings, is there any penalty (besides the financial implications) as to how long it will take the new one to scout my whole system? Or is that done automatically when hired? |

from the manual
A scouting director has a plan and personnel in place to support that plan. New scouting directors may have entirely different approaches. As a result, firing (or losing) a scouting director can have an immediate and noticeable impact on the scouted ratings of your players. Think carefully before putting a new regime in place! Now i know the scouting gets more accurate over time with more reports on a player but i thinks it more to do with how the scout looks at players and changes the ratings based on that more than anything |

Right, so I guess my follow up question would be if I know I'm increasing scout ratings a lot, is it wise to upgrade? And if so, when is the most logical time to do that?

Hmm... I would say at whatever time during the season that you are comfortable with your team and won't be making any big moves. Maybe after the trade deadline? Give the new director time to "see" your team and the league before the offseason free agency stuff... ?

Yeah, that makes sense. I guess one more question would be: Does scouting in any way influence performance or potential? I know the scouts look at guys and say "I think right now he's 1 star and has the potential for 2". But if another scout says "I think right now he's 2 and has the potential for 4", would having one scouting director or the other influence the way he will develop? Obviously you will give prospects with better potential more chances to develop, but beyond that, does the actual scout have any impact?
