Fighters/ Fight action screen
As promised around a week ago, here some screenshots for fight action screens.
The fighters and the stadium are all build in 3d, thats why it all took a little longer in the beginning. To build and set everything up is more complex, than just painting it in 2d using Photoshop f.ex. (Don't want to say that it doesn't take quite a lot of skill to paint such a scene by hand...). But setting everything up takes a bit longer. Having 3d data, gives me the ability f.ex to re-use the boxers in a variety of ways. One of the benefits f.ex would be, instead of having to draw every image for the fight action screens manually, it is now a matter of repositioning the boxers, and let the computer render out the image. That way it is not a huge task anymore, to add variations of the same punch f.ex. Hopefully more images will add to the game experience. So here some fighters and a sample stadium scene. The idea behind the stadium scene was, to make heavy use of backlight, to hide a bit the identity of the boxers, and leave some space for the imagination. As I said in a previous post, it won't be possible for me as for now, to build fighters for every weight class and skin color. So, that's a compromise . Hope you can live with that, and hope that you like it so far!Ok, back to work now ![]() ![]() ![]() PS: I happen to post some background information once in a while on my blog as well, if anyone interested. |

Will there be a less buff looking image if a fighter comes in out of shape?

Nice improvement over the originals, Aurelio. Will we be able to make them black and white to give it that pre-colour TV look? Differing tones of grey might make it that much more difficult to tell fighters' colour.

Very nice, loving the strides. Will the fighters motions be tied to the specific punch type now?

Great job with the graphics! But I have the same question I asked and talked about in "Screenshots Please" topic, right below this topic. Will the Commentary match up with the punches, if not, for me, all your hard work would be wasted. There has to be a connection between the commentary and the fighters graphics. Otherwise what is the point? In OOTP Baseball, it would be like the pbp telling me it was a long Home Run hit to left while the ball flight showed a dribbler back to the mound. They wouldn't have added ball flight to the game unless it matched up with the pbp. Why would us on the boxing side except anything less? How in good conscience can it not match up.

Aurileo, I was posting while you answer to the previous question came up. I just hope those in charge know the importance of this issue. Thanks for all your hard work. I see some light at the end of the tunnel now, that hopefully will not be that of another oncoming train.
