Special Rules & Settings:

• STATS ONLY!!! Well, pretty close. We have 1-5 ratings turned on for other ratings (fielding/speed) and potential ratings. This provides enough info to give you a quick visual glance on the type of player you are looking at (contact hitter, power, OBP guy etc…) while leaving a “fog of war” that will create a tremendous reliance on statistical output. Is the guy who had a .900 OPS really ready for the big show at age 22; is that free agent really worth the big contract given only one good year; Is that 33 year old who had a down year last year out of gas or was it a fluke year?
• Customized Financial System which rewards teams for fighting for every last win. No risk of getting bored here when you are way out of the playoff hunt; you’ll be fighting for every last win, seeking out that guy in AAA who can add a bit more oomph to your lineup, scouring the waiver wire, signing free agents for added depth all through the year. • For the most part, we utilize the internal game rules for contracts and financials; we do however require that all contracts have the same yearly salary. This is explained in further detail in the Constitution, but we believe this setup creates more financially responsible contracts and avoids contracts solely built for the short term…we want teams to be built for the long haul.
• Intriguing backstory that provides a great launching point for the league. Premier Baseball Dynasty League - Powered by OOTP 12
• Financials are set to a 10% scale. So star players are worth ~$1.6 million versus ~$16 million.
• 33% of teams make the playoffs (3 division winners; 1 wildcard)
• Ability to customize your team and build your team history. Decide what logos to use, team names, and most importantly run the inaugural draft. Get in on the ground floor and shape your team and the league for years to come.
• Draft pick trading & Cash trading allowed.
• We hope that the immersive nature of the settings as well as our focus on attracting active GM’s will provide an atmosphere of forum activity, team news articles, and an overall engaging league atmosphere.

Note to Prospective GM’s: GM’s of any experience level are more than welcome; however, we believe its important to point out that the stats only experience adds a twist that will separate it from many other leagues. In reality, in order to have success in this league, it will require a greater time commitment than many other leagues. Its not that stats only is particularly difficult, but it does add another layer of complexity. All we ask is that you have the time and wherewithal to commit to the idea. If pouring over stats for hours on end sounds like a great time; then certainly don’t let the stats only concept scare you. We’ll be posting many pointers/tips in the forum in order to guide new GM’s who may not be familiar with stats only gameplay. Again, if you prefer a more casual online GM’ing experience, this may not be the right fit for you, but if you’ve ever wanted to give an immersive, story driven stats only universe a shot, now is that time!

Also note that we plan on being fairly strict about GM activity and will seek out new GM’s rather quickly upon any inactivity. Of course, we understand that life takes priority; all we ask is that you post in the forum in the vacation thread when you will be absent from the league and possibly recruit a fellow GM to help when you will be gone through an extended period of time.

And last but not least, we really want to emphasize article writing. Our entire premise with the league and the way it is set up, hopefully, will foster a truly immersive fictional world. However, we cannot do it without a solid core of GM’s that are committed to making the experience come alive for each other. The articles don’t have to be long (though that certainly is not discouraged), you don’t have to be a great writer, the main goal should be to add activity, immersion, and some fun reading material for other GM’s. Write a few sentences after a key free agent signing or trade, write a few paragraphs at the end or beginning of a season…it will add increase enjoyment and immersion for all.

So please consider your ability to commit the time to a stats only league, your general activity level and ability to commit to writing articles before joining. America and Canada should be fine, only rule on geographic location is that they can't be cities with an existing MLB team.

The commish of this new league has been a regular GM in my league since last summer. He's a very committed OOTP12 fanatic -- he regularly helps other GMs, writes articles, and is really committed to the stats only format. I'm going to paying close attention to this league as it's built out. If anyone can put a good spin on stats only - it's this GM.

Don't be scared of by the stats only format! Once you switch, you never go back! In all seriousness, its an extremely engaging format and not nearly as overwhelming as it may sound, remember, everyone is on the same playing field and there are some in game tools (like sorting lists) that help with your decision making.

In order to augment the stats only experience, I'll be frequently posting on the forum during a season with different statistical overviews of players by categories. Making it all the easier to be fully immersed and get to know all the good players across the league.

I completely agree with this. You will feel more involved in the league because you'll have to look closely at players rather than just ratings that you know are 100% accurate.
