Do you every sign free agents so that they can reach a milestone?

Have you ever signed a player, just so that they'd get the opportunity to reach a milestone? I did so just recently with Jose Chavez, a 36 year old catcher who spent 13 seasons with Chicago, only to be released with 299 career HRs. He now has 301.

in OOTP11, I signed Thome after the 2010 season (he had 594 hr). He got injured in spring training and didn't hit a single home run all season.

In my fictional league I just signed a 42 year old RP to a 1 year contract because he had 490 saves. He only had 2 the previous season so I am not sure if he is done or not but hopefully I can get him the opportunity to get 500 saves.

In one of my sim only fictional leagues, in year 30 or 35, I stumbled across what appeared to be a clearly washed up RF who was sitting at just under 2900 hits. I slotted him as my DH against lefties figuring he'd make 3k within two seasons then sorta forgot about him... seeing he didn't exactly play everyday. He was lost to injury early in his 2nd year with my team... still short of the mark... he then retired... That was probably the only time I've ever noticed an older FA close to a milestone... was bummed that he washed out.
