North American Baseball Alliance (Full History)
Full League Name (Initials): North American Baseball Alliance (NABA)

Keep in mind, nothing here is meant to be historically factual after the 1994 strike. This is simply meant to establish some background into this fictional baseball league. Enjoy. History of the North American Baseball Alliance Steroids were always suspected in Major League Baseball but solid evidence was always lacking. Fast forward to 1994 and the Major League season was cruising along, until that fateful August day when everything just suddenly stopped. Little did everyone know, this was the end of Major League Baseball as we knew it. During the work stoppage, then Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum (huge baseball fan) stumbled onto a troubling epidemic within Major League Baseball; steroids. Of course when a Senator has a chance to run with something, they will. In a matter of just days, a Senate sub-committee met and began to probe Major League Baseball and what they found was just shocking. A steroid drug ring that encompassed most of the 30 Major League teams (except for the Pirates which explains their horrible last couple seasons up to the strike) and a large majority of the players union. Following a grueling 4 and a half month sub-committee investigation, the US Justice Department interjected with a ruling that would change America’s former past-time forever; Major League Baseball shall no longer exist. Immediately all 30 teams and owners were forced to disband their respective organizations in the spring of 1995, America was without baseball. All of this changed in the late fall of 1996 when Donald Trump stood before Congress with a proposal to bring professional baseball back to the US and Canada. His idea was a joint 16 team league with Canada, disallowing any former member of the player’s union and ownership of the now defunct Major League Baseball; the North American Baseball Alliance was born. This proposal was quickly drew up in Congress and passed with flying colors, born now was a new professional baseball league that would begin its play in 1998 featuring a lot of the same “rules” as the former MLB. These features include: · *All minor league levels (Rookie through AAA) · *16 teams featuring 2 leagues (Canadian and United States) with 2 divisions in each league · *The DH was adopted by both leagues · *No age min or max · *25 Man active roster, 30 man expanded roster size, and the 40 man roster rules continue to apply · *Waiver period is 7 days, while DFA Period is 14 days…. Sims are 7 days in length · *Player options and right to refuse minor league assignment are active along with the adopted Rule 5 draft · *The DL length will also be 14 days · *The Amateur draft will be held yearly before spring training *Most of the financials are fixed, teams started out with even market strengths with a luxury tax revenue sharing system *The NABA will continue with a 162 game schedule with full interleague play and a balanced schedule *Playoffs will consist of the 2 division winners and 2 wild cards per league. Playoff format will be 5/7/7 The NABA adopted a large portion of the rules that the former Major League Baseball group had with the exception of a few small changes as you can see. With all the ground work laid and play to begin in the spring of 1998, all that was left was to name the flag ship franchises. Here are the initial teams: Canadian League Eastern Division 1. Toronto Lake Monsters ![]() 2. Montreal Nordiques ![]() 3. Ottawa Capitals ![]() 4. Quebec City Quest ![]() Western Division 1. Winnipeg Jets ![]() 2. Vancouver Ice Pilots ![]() 3. Seattle Seawolves ![]() 2. Phoenix Sidewinders ![]() 3. San Francisco Quakes ![]() 4. San Antonio Lone Stars ![]() The NABA Today Today, 2012 the North American Baseball Alliance will celebrate its 16th season. Following the simulated initial draft, 15 seasons of history were collected for historical purposes. Last edited by bwyant32; 12-27-2011 at 02:13 PM. |

Have you considered getting your site hosted by All Sim Baseball? It's very inexpensive, and easy to setup (tutorial videos).
The current forum your using is going to draw some serious issues in the future. You have a solid foundation for a great league, you just need a real forum/website to go along with it. With that said, I will refrain from joining until I hear your response.

It's just not stable to run everything on separate hosts. What if one of them goes bad? The forum you have now will discourage people from posting. An active forum is essential to a successful league. If you have any trouble settings it up, please contact me. You've caught my attention as you've obviously put a lot of effort into building a quality league. I can tell you'd make a good commissioner, and I'd love to be apart of it (once this issue is resolved). Gavin
