Size of inaugural draft
Is there a way to limit the number of available players in an inaugural draft?
Small fantasy league, no minors, 8 teams with historical settings. (1871) I have been playing around with active/reserve/expanded rosters sizes but the smallest number of players available I can get it down to is 328 (41 per team). I am sort of trying to re-create history but with fantasy players so I will have no idea of who the stars will be and who is over/under rated at draft. So I am trying to limit the number of players available for the inaugrual down to around 95-120. Any advice would be welcome. Thanks. |

Have you tried deleting some (208 or so) of the players before holding the draft? If you go into Commish mode you should be able to edit the draft class. I believe mass select works on that screen (not 100% sure), so you could select them all then delete.

The mass deletion was going to be my "Last resort" as deleting only some of the 328 players will most likely leave the star talent only and get rid of the also-rans... Would be unrealistic. (I know its a fantasy league, but hey some semblance of reality is what I am after)
I suppose I could go commish, mass delete, then create 120 players and hopefully get a good random spread of positions and talent... |

8 teams 25 man roster you would draft 35 per team to my knowledge and the rest are FA's.

Yeah, what Bluenoser said... Maybe sort all players by some random, obscure stat or characteristic, and then delete every other one, or whatever number - two out of every three? - that gets you the number of players you're after.

another thing i think might work is set up the ML roster as low as possible, 15 ? and the Reserve limit to 15 which is the lowest and then your draft would only have 30 players per team then up your ML roster if you want after the draft. although ML active roster limits werent 25 until 1905 time frame according to LGO and were under 20 til 1905 time frame.
