OOTP 12: Try again?

I have just installed OOTP 12 for the first time. I figured it would be best to wait until all the patches were done. I just tried to start up a new game in OOTP 12 to check it out. I tried an MLB game: not in database. I tried a custom quickstart of the MLB set up: game could not form game files and shut down.

Now am I really out $40 for a game that does not work, or does anyone have any suggestions? I hope my opinion changes, but as it stands right now my opinion is: ootp team, please try harder in OOTP 13.

What operating system?
At first glance, I wonder if it could be a permissions issue?

It almost sounds like something didn't install right. Did you try a uninstall/reinstall?

I have Windows 7. I will try to re-install and keep my fingers crossed.

Did you install to default or to custom folders?

Wow, really? Because of an isolated problem that is clearly not rampant on here or you would have or sould have known about it, you say this?. Please put on your big boy pants and maybe ask why this might be happening instead of acting like a 3 year old.

The program may be looking for a file not there.

I finally got it working. It seems that on my machine, for some reason, installing to my program files is not the best option. I installed it to My Documents and it worked. Also, I restarted my computer after installation and magic happened.
