Still the KHL is keeping more russians now then the past because they're able to pay them more money and they'd prefer to stay in their home country. What's stopping them from keeping more euros and like you said, if the moneys there, the day might come where we see one or two pretty good canadian or american (tops) to say 'no' to the NHL and go to the KHL instead - i think that's aways away right now and really has more of a chance to never happen . And even still, most russians and europeons still dream of playing in the NHL. But in terms of talent, there are russians playing there who could play in the NHL, but simply get more money in their homeland. Tax free too

It would be interesting to see if any NA players that are drafted by a KHL team does sign though.
Anyways...if the game setup allows it I want to start up a new WHA type league with teams based in NA and Europe and see how that plays out.

yeah, that would be a very fun scenario. Then after seeing that play out i'd like to know what would happen if the new 'WHA' didn't work out and delete the league then watch where those players go and how they do in other leagues along with money they get paid.

All you would need to complete this would be polyester leisure suits, wide lapels, garish wide ties and platform shoes! Ahh......good times!

I'm not here as much as I used to be, but I happened upon this news last week. Incredibly excited!! Can't wait to see this game develop, we've been sorely missing a hockey sim since EHM was shelved by SI, and I'm glad OOTPDev is the company that is stepping up to fill the void.
PS - And if you need help with the AHL, specifically the St. John's IceCaps, you know where to find me.

Hey, how are the former Manitoba Moose doing? I may be in St. John's the first or second week of the New Year. Could I get a ticket or are they SRO?

As far as on the ice, the team is, I believe, still undefeated during regulation on the road. They've struggled somewhat at home, but up until last week were the best team in the AHL. They currently sit four points out of first, even with their recent skid. What makes their success even more interesting is the depth the team has had to rely on, given injuries here and in Winnipeg and players getting called up because they weren't scoring. At one point we were missing our top 6 players, for a good week or two. Absolutely love watching Kevin Clark play, short, fast, hard worker, and is always in the face of the opposition. Love him. Gonna be great seeing Jaffrey back at Mile One in the New Year! ... as you can see, having a team back here, has me a bit excited. :P

I don't plan on buying the new hockey title until at least the second version (although I am excited for it). The first release is always filled with bugs that the designers usually don't notice. Realism is often so low it doesn't even feel like Hockey.
Great simulators develop over time. I fully expect this series to be great in a few years!

I agree. Unless there's some unexpected design flaw (e.g. limited customization), I anticipate buying the game when it comes out. If that makes me a post-beta tester (gamma tester?), then I'm happy to chip in to make it a better product in the long run.

You have a good point. I may consider it yet!
Does anyone know when it's going to be released?

Very excited about this game :-)
I was wondering - will the game be able to handle teams like the "USA Hockey National Team Developement Program"? USA Hockey National Team Development Program - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia |

I'm certainly buying the first version unless the wheels fall off and it doesn't happen. In other words there's about a 99.9% chance that I'm buying the first version..... and the second.... and the 3rd.......etc....

I'd prepay for the game now if we were told we could try out the beta version once it becomes available.
I pulled out EHM 07 this afternoon as I've been craving a hockey sim... but it feels very dated now. |

So uhh...what happened with the contest to name the game? Since as far as I can tell, it's still unnamed and the contest was ignored.

We have choosen a name already and we will publish the game's name, as soon as we will have a logo. At the moment, Daniela is busy with the OOTP-GUI, therefore it will take some time before we get a logo.
