College Baseball

Does .400 ever plan on creating a College Baseball game?.... so far I have only seen one from Dolphin Sim I believe it is and that one is a bit unplayable. Does anyone know of a good one?

Some have made "college" leagues using OOTP, but I don't know the process they use and it probably takes some adjusting, maybe they will add comment here.

It would be cool but probably at the bottom of the list of games that .400 would like to make.

I'd have to say this would be an "extreme" longshot due to the very limited market, I won't say it is impossible but very unlikely. Sorry

Hmmm ... hmmm ... hmmm ... damn I need to learn programming. Create a kick ass game and partner with .400 Software Studios.

COBB goes to college is in it's initial recruiting phase and looks to be an awesome college league. I believe there are still teams available.

The link is below.

very limited market? .... wouldn't everyone who owns OOTP buy it? I'd be great to recruit players who might get drafted in the 5th or 6th round .... it'd add a great dimension to ootp also, in the fact that drafted high-schools could opt for college instead

I may be in the minority here but I would have preferred a college baseball game over College Hoops. Don't get me wrong, I own TDCB but I figure since .400 softwares flagship title is a baseball game, I figured it'd make sense to create a college baseball game to go along with it. I don't think there's a limited market for college baseball, why not develop one and find out. Damn why did I become a comic book writer, I think I should have taken up programming.

Yes, I've known those types too Having been a programmer in the past, I would say it's a matter of what you define as "easy". The coding itself is not at all difficult once you learn a language - and thus adding up stats is "easy".

The hard part comes in two forms... the first is attempting to put in "logic" or what we commonly refer to as the "AI" and there's dozens (no hundreds) of examples here that prove that point, and the sheer volume of the code. Any 12 lines to calculate "this and put it here" is "easy" but finding time to write tens of thousands, or ten of hundred of thousands lines of code becomes a real task.

Then there's the issue of trying to get the same program to work on tens of hundreds of machine configurations, display cards, etc.

Yeah... it's "easy"... in a weird twisted sort of way

I suggested this about a year ago, thinking it was a cinch tie-in with the existing customer base, and a relatively painless mutation of the current game engine. The modern game of baseball, with the mega-offenses as profiled in OOTP, would need very little tweaking to simulate the slightly hotter collegiate game. The biggest obstacle would seem to be the database of college teams, and trying to determine if the module would be a recruiting/development sim, a dynasty machine with coaching emphasis, or a straight-out player generator aimed at furnishing players for subsequent drafts into OOTP.
I know that TCY has this general concept pretty well mapped out for football, but it still seems a natural for the baseball crowd.

I see myself playing TCY more than I play FOF... I don't know, I like the fact that I don't have to worry about finances, just the strength of my recruiting, which at the Univ. of Miami is pretty easy to recruit
