Catcher Fielding
Do the IF error, arm, range and TDP ratings apply to catchers? Or is it just the C ARM, C ABI and Catcher position ratings that apply to their defensive skills?
Thanks in advance! |

I am not sure, but I would think that the errors and range would be calculated into bunts and maybe foul balls. But that is a small enough part of the game that I think you would be safe with just looking at the catcher ratings. That is what I do.

I'm pretty sure the "Catcher Ability Rating" (not catcher positional rating) governs how well a catcher fields balls in his zone, including bleeders in front of the plate. I think RonCo has also shown that it has a very small effect on pitcher ERA.

When I create my fictional catchers I always zero out IF/OF ratings and just focus on ability and arm....1 of my C is 200 Ability 200 Arm and is rated 10 as a C, so to my knowledge IF ratings have no affect on a C.
