Couple of questions and observations
I'm an OOTP veteran but an iOOTP newb. Couple of things I don't quite understand.
1) I think I saw this mentioned somewhere in this thread (I read a bunch of posts but not all) but IIRC the answer was something like "It was fixed in the update." When you PH for a pitcher and the substitution window opens at the end of the inning, how do you view the opponent's lineup? I know you can do it a few different ways from the main field screen but I haven't figured it out from the sub window. 2) What is the use of the "Take pitch" command? Is that supposed to be used in conjunction with stealing? I can understand using it frequently if you're doing a pitch-by-pitch game, but I don't even see that option for iOOTP. Did I overlook it? As for my observations: 1) I'm sure this has been noted elsewhere but my team names are missing from the PBP. Each game begins with something such as "Today takes on !" At first I thought it was a missing nickname but I entered that for my team and that hasn't helped. 2) I really enjoy the PBP. It's obvious a lot of work went into it. What cracks me up, though, is the fact that the more amazing a hit seems the more likely it is to be caught. I chuckle frequently when I see something like "That ball is hit hard down the right field line. It's going to be trouble! [OF] is sprinting toward the wall. He turns and he makes the catch!!" The bigger the buildup the more I expect the out. |

"Deep drive out towards right-center field! It could go! [RF] sprinting back... and... A GREAT LEAPING CATCH!"
"Little dinky popup towards short center, it's gone." I know exactly what you mean. I can't answer your questions, but when I gave my team a nickname, it stopped saying "Today takes on !" and started saying "Today the Red Sox take on the Yankees!" or whatever teams. |

I believe that "take pitch" has nothing to do with steals -- because when a base-runner attempts a steal, the batter automatically takes the pitch.
Just guessing here: I think taking a pitch can be used to attempt to draw a walk when you are facing a tired pitcher with bad control, perhaps an especially attractive choice when the batter is weak and you want to avoid a double play. If the pitch count matters in the game, rather than just being there to add color, perhaps taking the pitch from a tired and erratic pitcher positively affects what happens when on a later pitch the ball is put into play. My guess is that the pitch count is just there for flavor. |

You can change the name of the teams in the Manage Team section using the Edit button. There's a dropdown box that you can choose which team you are editing in the Manage Team section as well.
