Back from Vegas

Just got back home from a marathon four days in Vegas. My wife and I were exploring the Miracle Mile when, much to my surprise, we stumbled across Memorabilia International. It looked promising, as I was hunting boxing memorabilia, so we went in and who should I see sitting behind a table signing autographs but the immortal Earnie "Thunder in His Fists" Shavers! I was like a little kid, not believing that here was one of the idols of my younger days. My wife had to nudge me. I reached across the table and shook that huge paw that hammered Ali, Norton and Holmes and was totally tongue-tied. I don't remember what I said, but it was probably stupid or incoherent.

I was in a good mood the rest of the day....

The same day I found another memorabilia shop called "Field of Dreams" and bought a swell unframed photo of Ty Cobb and Shoeless Joe.

I have met Earnie a few times, he was a greeter at a bar when he lived in Liverpool. A really nice guy, made time for everyone, posed for photos with me, signed his photo and gave me a DVD. I said to him one time "I can't believe Holmes got up from that right hand", he replied "Neither can I man, neither can I". Top guy.
