How to stop late game collapse

I've just gone on a run of 6 losing games where, ahead in the 7th by some margin, I suddenly get hit for multiple runs and end up losing the game. It's got to the point where it's almost a given that it's going to happen in every single game.

I let my manager handle everything except Offense Strategy, and only 'manually' play our own at-bat. Assuming the game is not buggy, what do I have to do to prevent these collapses?

It's likely that the AI continues to use the same relievers in the same situation regardless of performance. Check to see if any of them are on a cold streak. Other than taking over control of that function, I'm not sure what you can do.

Look at past box scores and evaluate if the AI is pushing your SP too far. If necessary change pitch limits and/or hook settings.

no beer in the clubhouse might help

... the way these results are goingi could do with more beer.

Like i said, I play every game, but leave all decisions apart from the Offense Strategy to the manager. Do the settings in the main 'Strategy' tab apply whenever the manager is doing his thing, even when you're not 'auto playing'..?

it's a real pity, i've got a really nice Orioles team going (IMHO), to constantly lose by 1 run is driving me nuts. Just lost 1-0 to LA, heading for extra innings when my Closer gets injured bottom of the 8th with LA scoring a winning run in the 9th. the day before saw a 4-5 defeat to Toronto and a 7-6 defeat to Seattle - all games i was leading going into the 8th ...

Seriously, you just described my team. I went through an August 8-20 and I swear 10 of those loses came from either blown 9th inning saves and bullpen collapses. However, half my bullpen got season ending injuries at that point and I had to trade my closer earlier in the season because:

1: He requested a trade. Was too upset and wanted to leave.
2: I was happy to oblige. For the season, he went 0-8 with a 3.21 ERA with around 24 saves. Very stark contrast from the year before. Maybe emotions got the best of me, but at least I traded him for a very solid 4* SP prospect.

Not like we were going to get to the play-offs anyway, but the 8-20 stretch resulted in the owner decreasing my budget and I already have the smallest budget in my 20 team league. Previous year I saw an increase, this basically just cancelled it out.

I'm going to further adjust my sliders to have a quicker hook for relievers after this off-season. At a certain point if we had a late inning collapse I just laughed. It was happening far too much for me to get upset.

Well, I've seen a bit of a turnaround. Picked up Bárbaro Cañizares on a free agency (mainly for his HR capabilities), using him as a pinch-hitter in the final innings. So far so good: in the three games I've used him he's won me all three games with HR's in each one!

losing late happens sometimes. I have an 8 team league 4 in the AL. This 1 team i struggle to score runs against and 2 out of 3 games this past series I had a 2 run lead after the 6th and they came back to beat my best RHP MR the 1st game and my best LHP MR the 3rd game. They are 3 games under .500 I am 16 games over .500.
