Is there a way to convert relievers into starters?
Have a couple of young pitchers in the minors with MR labels but solid pitching skills. Of course its possible to just slot them as starters but is there a way to improve their stamina?? A stamina of 25...is it possible to increase something like that to 60s or 70s or is the stamina fixed throughout his career? If there is a method to change, it would be great if someone could share how it can be done and what results you have achieved.
thanks for the help |

Outside of editing the player directly in commissioner mode, there is nothing in particular you can do to improve the player's stamina and make him starter-worthy. Under the game's development model, the player may develop greater stamina over time (or not) just as his stuff, movement, control, etc. might improve (or not).

I would liek to see Stamina changes sometime in the future on both sides. Mo Rivera used to be a starter ( along with all but 1 HOF closer) but i would love to see people with 7's & 8's in the modern era drop as they age. Mark Buerhle is an example of this. He barely surpassed 2100 IP this yr and I will be surprised if he is over 200 IP for Miami, STL, CHC, CWS next yr. Obviously in the NL he would get pulled for a PH.

This is very interesting because I've actually managed to do it, admittedly to a small degree. But anyway just to throw in my 2-cents, what I did was to simply keep the pitcher in the game after he's exhausted. You have to be prepared to loose, risk injury to your pitcher, mess up his seasonal stats, and do it more than once. If none of that is important to you after about 2-3 games (?) you might see stamina increase (note the word might). But as I say I have taken a 6-7 stamina or less (1-20 scale) and gotten it to a respectable mark. Will you get a 5 to a 15? No. Can you get a 5 to a 7? Yes, but it takes some time.

Allow me to clarify. First I make them starters and actually put them in the rotation. At this point they have stamina ratings of let's say 5 or less (not usually enough to throw a CG without some serious worry). Keep them in the game, even into extra innings (as if
). I didn't notice anything right away but then after all this was an experiment when I started. After several starts (and I mean several) I noticed the stamina increase. Let me also say here that it didn't work for every pitcher I tried and as yet I can't figure out why. I suspect they were to old and other stats had begun to fall. The increase will not be great. In most cases only 1 or 2 points and I've never tried it with on someone with a normal or above stamina. The idea for me was to get them to the point where they could at least have a chance at a CG.
