Stamina: Starter = 2 / Reliever = 8

I have prepared a league in OOTP 11 and now imported in OOTP 12. After the inaugural draft i noticed a really strange behaviour. My drafted starters have only a very low stamina rating and have at least 3 pitches but the rotation is led by pitchers with only 2 pitches but a very high stamina rating. The same is true for all other teams.

Any suggestions ?

I have made some tests and after reviewing the results i am considering stronlgy to give up, esp. because i have spent many hours to set up the league and i have no desire to burn more time.

I used a scale between 1-10 for all ratings outside batting and pitching ratings so stamina the stamina rating is between 1-10.

When a Pitcher is created he gains as starter a stamina between 2 - 20 and as Closer between 1 - 10. The mean for Starter is around 6.5 and for Closers around 4. Every Pitcher with stamina rating of at least 4 can be used as Starter so that half of all Closer can be used as Starter. Even when they are labled as "Closer" in the engine the "Projected Role" is already set as Starter !(look at the Player Page).

On the other hand is makes no sense to create Starters with a stamina = 2. But that happens in the game and i think the algorithm is here not optimal.

The problem increases because all Relievers and Closers get a bonus so that they are a little bit more effective. That they have no 3rd pitch does not limit them really.

In my (fictional) league i was wondering why the AI GM´s grab all Relievers and Closers in the first rounds and after the draft i saw hordes of 2-pitch-throwers becoming Starters and after testing a sesason i discovered they were effective !

Under most cases it takes at least 5 sta to be a starter. What is happening here is your SP's probably suck and closer types are better starting even though in most cases they should not be.

I am not sure how much this has to do with conversion but the last 2 versions have had few created good SPs. There is a lot of crap in rotations and IRRC there were many more good MR and CL created in 11. So I think the problem is a lack of good starters and too many great relievers that edging out starters even though they don't have the stuff for a starter they are still edging out your scrubs.

I submitted a ticket and they looked at my league and it seems the culprit was a false adjustment in the league settings at the moment when the player were created. As basic level my league had "Single A" , something that was never intented but based on this level and the corresponding parameters the player were created. As i had no desire to create a new bunch of player and edit them i have simple corrected the stamina level of certain players and it seems it worked. Now the Starters were drafted in the first rounds.
