Import problem - contract options

Hi!

I just imported my OOTP11 league in OOTP12 and I noticed that all the contract options (Mutual, Team or Player) have disappeared from the Contract Status page in OOTP12! I assume that it is wrong since I read about it in the OOTP12 manual.

I wonder if anyone encountered the same problem while importing your OOTP League from 11 to 12?

EDIT : I forgot to mention that I imported the league after the playoff (the day they ended or the following day... I don't remember exactly)...

Is this a bug?

Thanks!

Vic

No he doesn't mean the ability to give players options has disappeared... he's saying that any existing contracts that had player, team, or mutual options were for some reason converted into guaranteed contract years when he imported from OOTP11 to OOTP12.

At least I assume that's what he's saying... because the same thing happened to me. I also imported on the last day of the playoffs (day before offseason begins).

I assume this happens because OOTP12 handles their contract option years differently, getting rid of the mutual option altogether and introducing vesting options and option buyouts. I'm guessing a side-effect was that existing contracts didn't get converted properly. I can see why mutual options might get messed up, but I would've thought player options could've imported correctly.

Saw the same when importing my v11 league and assumed, as you stated, it was due to changes in the way contracts are done in v12 . I just look it as one of those things that, from time to time, will happen with OOTP when importing an on-going leauge. To me it is a small price to pay to have the ability to continue my game from version to version.

Same here, thanks for posting. I would not have noticed it.
Our online league did not get the contract option years correct in the upgrade.

You're right hefalumps, that's what I was talking about.

So is it safe to say that because of differences in the contract options, it will never work, no matter when I import my league from OOTP11?

Could it be fixed in an eventual update or can I assume that it was intended that way?

Thank you guys!

I'm just thinking out loud here but is there any way that I could edit the contract in commish mode to reflect the former contract options? I'm not familiar with editing stuff within the game... so I don't know for sure if we can really edit the terms of a contract...

Thanks!

I am 99% that the answer is yes. You should be able to give the players pretty much any contract you want. How to do it I don't know, I have never done it. I know that the commissioners in my online league have had to make a few edits over the years.

But I have mixed feeling about your answer. The problem is what happens with the "99%" in our days... Should we start an "Occupy OOTP" thread?

I will check that tonight, in the calm and the serenity of my tent, in the middle of a crowded park.

Mine is far worst : Occupy Quebec

10-12 people with no heating source living on the ground in freezing conditions...

I prefer Occupy OOTP. I can occupy any city in MLB from the comfort of my home.

I was referring to the quarterly owners meetings in Milwaukee this week.

D'oh!... I mean... I was referring to the Can-am League owners meetings in Quebec City this week... Haha!

Back to my problem, is it something that need to be reported has a bug? I think it's a little late for that since the great majority of user should already have imported their league from 11 to 12...

I see no problem in it if I can edit the contract with the commish. If I can't, I know an owner in my league that's gonna be mad about this (he planned to let a superstar go on a mutual option at the end of the season to make better use of the salary)...

Elec yes you can edit player contracts. All my custom players in my historical fictional league are signed to max years with escalating contracts with no trade clauses, this way they wont trade a premier EBL player to the MLB Pirates since theres a huge difference in how much the EBL players make compared to MLB.

That makes sense! So it's not that big of a deal! I will edit this in a jiffy!!!

Thanks for the confirmation Chicagofan76!

That will please my troubled owner!

all my leagues that converted from 11 to 12 all the players with option yrs lost them due to im assuming the new way contracts are done in 12

we just had to simplly compare ootp11 players to the players in ootp12 to double chk and get the options set back to what they need to be in 12 and we good again

Yeah it's working!

But what are you guys using to replace the mutual option?

I was thinking at replacing it with a player option with a 1$ buyout... is it logical? If the player want to go, he can. If the team wants him out, it's not penalizing their budget.

Is it a good strategy?

That seems reasonable to me. I didn't bother re-instituting my team/player/mutual options because then I would've felt like I had to do it for every other team, and I just didn't feel like doing all of that. But if I had, I'd probably have done the same thing.
