Starting a League

Ok I'm starting a league and I want to control all the teams as far as the transactions are concerned...as an example I would like to run the league using managers for the teams but I would control all the call ups, demotions, DFA's and all the things that happen outside of a game for every team, but would like the Managers control the actual games, and I would control one team as a manager......is there an easy way to do that?

any help will do
thanks
Matt

I've never tried it, but it is possible that being in commissioner mode and setting the game up to prevent AI roster changes might do it.

Other than that, all I can think of is making a human manager for each team, but that would easily become cumbersome. Hopefully someone else can find a better solution for you.

That's what I would do. You need to stop the AI from making these decisions, so look in your league setup and options/rules to check off the appropriate boxes to suit your needs. Then make sure you are in Commissioner Mode in your manager options.

Thanks I've tried that and it appears to work while I'm working on the 40 man rosters and 25 man rosters, the only problem i am still having (before season starts stil) is that some players are still refusing minor leagues, i even have that box checked in the "rules" section too.

I just tried this in ootp11 (that's what I have on this comp here today, sorry) and it worked perfectly. I was in Preseason -- are you? (I'm approx. a month before my season starts, for example). Try to do exactly this below, every step.

1. Go to Manager Options. Put a checkmark in Commissioner Mode. Save Game.

2. Go to Game Setup > League Setup > Rules

3. Put a check in the box marked "Disable right to refuse minor league assignment. Save Game.

4. Go to a team's Transactions tab. You should see the 25 man, 40 man rosters, plus your AAA and AA teams there in different boxes. Grab a player from your 25 man roster with a ^ next to his name (you'll see on your screen that this means he has the right to refuse) and drag him down to a minor league team that has less than its maximum amount of players. He SHOULD just drop there onto the minor league squad because of step #3 we did.

If it doesn't work, errrrr...let us know.

I tried all the steps that you have said to do and appreciate your help very much, and it still doesn't let me take him off the 40 man roster. When you say "save game" what i do is actually close the program and then restart it again. I also have changed their Major League contact to Minor League (because it states that this player has a major league contract and cannot be demoted) and I also uncheck the box that says Major League Contract. I then try and drag the player to the bottom of page where it says LEGEND and it still says "This player refuses to be taken off the secondary (40 man roster).

Ok, I think we're progressing. It's like playing detective.

I just tried to replicate what you're doing. I'm getting a slightly different message in ootp11, but the point is basically the same.

It seems we can easily demote a guy to the minors, but pulling him off the 40 man is a different story.

From what I can see, no matter if you are commissioner or not, you are going to have to become the manager of the team in question temporarily in order to see the transaction dropdown menu when you click on a player. It seems impossible to just remove veteran major leaguers from the 40-man roster in one quick swoop. (You CAN remove them easily from the 25 man without being the manager, as I did above.) You need to go through the semi-tedious process of passing him through waivers and then designating him for assignment, then dropping him from the 40-man.

(You MIGHT be able to skip a step by going to your league Rules and on the Waiver Period Length choose Waiver Rule Disabled).

I suggest reading here and taking the suggested steps. OOTP Baseball Manual - Secondary (40-Man) Rosters
