Reason Why This Game Is Great

Down 3-0 in the World Series against Florida, my Detroit Tigers win game 4 6-5. Win game 5 27-3 (yes, 27-3), win game 6 6-2, and finally to complete the comeback win game 7 3-1.

Game 4 score 3 runs in the top of the ninth to take the lead
Game 5 Miguel Cabrera goes 5-7 3 hr, 8 rbi, 4 runs scored.
Game 7 Max Scherzer goes 8 3h 9k

First time that I have ever been that far back and come back and win.

Next thing you know, you'll come back from two runs down twice, when you were down to your final strike, to win game six. The hero of that game will be a local guy who wins series MVP when your team goes on to win it all in game seven. Both games are great, Baseball and OOTPB.

In the division series of my fictional league's (which uses real 2011 ML players) version of the AL (my team is in the NL equivalent), one team (Dublin) led the wild card the entire year before struggling down the stretch and came into the last three games of the regular season against their closest competitors, Madrid, leading them by 2 games. Madrid swept the series, winning game 162 1-0 in 16 innings, and thus ended up winning the wildcard by 1 game.

In the division series, Madrid was matched against New York. Madrid had won 85 games total, and was the equivalent of the 2010 Giants in terms of how little hitting they had. Their cleanup hitter was Nick Swisher. Their DH was Eric Patterson. Their 3B and RF were Nick Punto and Michael Saunders. Their supposed ace, David Price, had gone 5-10 during the regular season with an ERA of 5.00.

New York, meanwhile, was a monster team, having won 103 games. Their lineup included Josh Hamilton, Troy Tulowitzki, Brandon Phillips, James Loney and Shane Victorino. They had Yadier Molina behind the plate, and their ace Colby Lewis (!) had won a league-leading 22 games during the regular season.

So Price went out and pitched 8 scoreless innings in Game 1, and Madrid won 1-0 on a sac fly in the 9th. In Game 2, Michael Saunders hit two three-run home runs for Madrid to win going away. Then after NY won Game 3 17-6, Price went out in Game 4 and threw a complete game shutout to clinch the series.

It was awesome. I enjoyed watching that series more than I enjoyed managing the division series my team was in (which I won in 5).

I see what you did there...

Not even a cardinals fan and I was jumping for joy when they won that game. While OOTP may make me pump my fist and sigh in agony, nothing compares to the real deal.

My 2010 White Sox were facing the Tampa Bay Rays in the AL Divisional Series. Jake Peavey and Gavin Floyd pitched consecutive shutouts and the series shifted to Chicago with the Sox up 2 games to none. Chicago failed to win another game and Tampa went on to the ALCS.
