Installed new (on a Mac) . . . can't activate

Didn't realize that I did not have to uninstall the previous version . . . which I did. Downloaded and installed this version, and now it will not let me activate; keeps telling me to try again in a few minutes. I'm in "demo" mode now. What do I do? (I trashed the previous version.)

This knowledgebase article may help:

Activation Problems - Kayako eSupport Help Desk Software

It's usually the security suite/antivirus/firewall stuff that prevents activation. Try deactivating them temporarily and then activate by entering your license code. If that doesn't work, reactivate the security suite/antivirus/firewall stuff, and try the offline licensing process:

How can I install the license for my OOTP Developments' game without an Internet connection? - Kayako eSupport Help Desk Software

Edit: if you don't know your license number, you can easily retrieve it: http://support.ootpdevelopments.com/...&kbarticleid=4

If that fails, submit a support ticket (link in my sig below).

Thanks, Markus and Andreas.

No thanks to this character, though. What snark. (Good advice, MizzouRah.)

Good thing you kept checking in after the "last patch" announcement.

As the saying goes...fool me once.....etc....

Yeah, but stuff happens. And these guys were really responsive this time, despite the person with whom they were dealing, or trying to. I wonder if that guy is an alias . . .

Heh, but that was pretty remarkable to see Andreas get his dander up like that!

EDIT: Hmmm. Now I'll be monitoring THIS patch thread for a few days . . .

Just wanted to say, this is one of the best games I've ever had the chance to play - including all the great console games I've played over the years.

I'm so immersed into my baseball universe that I think about my cyber team at least a couple of times a day.

I really appreciate the OOTP team and all the hard work your staff puts in to make OOTP what it has become since I starting playing years and years ago with version 2.

Take some time off and get some rest, you and your staff deserve it.

It's "my policy" to thank the developers for all their hard work. Great job, Markus and Andreas. Truly an awesome game.

edit : i regenerated finances and still said no money for fa's or extensions but the development budget when back to avg
but i was able to offer contracts to the FA's even tho it said no money for fa's and same for extensions. is this suppose to be like that and my other pro league says it has money for fa's and extensions . im just tring to get a clear line on if thats the way the new updates are suppose to make it to be or if there's a bug . and again its a clean file no mixed versions as i have not imported exports yet

That's one of the pitfalls of not having a manual for this version (we better have one for the next one!). The salary cap is the TEAM cap, as you've discovered. I ran into that myself some time ago, so I know how you feel.

That reminds me - I had planned to submit a suggestion on the PT (bug) forums to name that line "Team Salary Cap", but kept forgetting. Thanks for reminding me, dude.

It should have been left as it was for the past few versions, "Salary Cap". All this new setup did was confuse the heck out of people. If I was new to the game and saw it for the first time now, I'd automatically assume it did what it says - set an individual "player" salary cap.

Just can't for the life of me understand why it was changed. I'm sure Markus has a good reason, but it's definitely over my head.

Thanks!

Just wanted to post my thanks to the developers for their hard work putting together this game. I'm a longtime Baseball Mogul player who has fully made the OOTP conversion and I'm glad to say I won't be going back to BM anytime soon. Keep up the great work (and great support) gentlemen and you've got a customer for many years to come!

Not sure we're talking the same thing, but this is the description of the cap in V11...

Salary Cap sets a cap on team salaries. Total team salaries must be below this figure. The computer will disallow any contract offer or trade if it would put a team over the salary cap during the current year or the following year. An entry of $0 means there is no salary cap. Note: If you create a game with a salary cap already turned on, be aware that the initial salaries generated by the game will not necessarily fall under the cap. Since player salaries are generated based on the player salary averages in the league setup, it might be best to play with the player salary averages a bit before assigning a specific salary cap.
