Quick list from a rookie OOTP 12 user

Dear Reader,

I am new to OOTP and have spent maybe between 80 and 100 hours on the game, and I have a few suggestions. First off let me say the game is great and I'm getting the next version no matter what.

  • Improved Graphics - If it is possible actual stadiums would be nice. If it one day became similar to the simulation game "MLB Front Office Manager" it would destroy everything.
  • Scouting - I think the game would benefit from expansions in the scouting department. Maybe scouting individual players (for a cost), placing scouts, sinking money in certain states, only scout certain positions, hire MULTIPLE scouts, etc. It just seems a little bland for a section of the game which could lead to SO much more.
  • Development - It would be cool if you could move potential ratings. Not from 15 potential power to 20, but rather 5 potential power to eye. (While losing some points in the process of course, so people don't just load up on power and contact). This way you can make great hitters develop into good hitters with good eyes.
  • Interactive Owner - It would be nice to be able to ask your owner for certain things like an extra 300k for a 15M contract to go through or maybe a bigger recommended scouting budget. The budgets should not just rely on wins and losses.
Thanks reader,
I hope you've enjoyed some of my recommendations.

I agree with scouting and owner interaction. Not sure if you tried ootp 11 but the scouting was not in depth at all. They made a big leap forward this year and hopefully it will get expanded more.

The owner interaction was suppose to be in ootp12 but didn't make it in so hopefully it will be in 13.

Never tried 11, so that's good to hear that Mark recognized one of the funnest parts of the game! (In my opinion)

Too bad it didn't make OOTP12 but hey just another reason to look forward to OOTP13!

As long as you're able to ask the owner for good things like more money, the owner should also be able to butt in and make you do bad stuff or give you tougher missions in mid-season ("we spent tons of money on this guy and you put him in the minors, get him up and see what he can do", "This is the team's 100th anniversary and we want you to try to beat the club win record this year", "we need higher attendance, get some more popular players in there").

To be honest, the game can already be fairly easy for solo players - asking for more money in mid-season unbalances things in the wrong direction.
