Truly Dominant Pitcher
This is just insane, I have a LHP Barry Zito in May of 2006 who is putting up some sick numbers as the number two starter behind Brandon Claussen on my staff. I have never seen anything like this in playing the game, and his perfomances are amazing me. I use a 4-man rotation and, wow... I simulate my games, and this guy is not a high strike out pitcher either.
2006 Stats (Through mid-May) 8-0, 8 GS, 0.27 ERA, 67.0 IP, 31 HA, 17/41 BB/K, 4 CG, 3 SHO) Career Stats: 133-42, 208 GS, 2.81 ERA, 1504.0 IP, 1086 HA, 493/1227 BB/K, 42 CG, 15 SHO If Zito keeps up this pace, he is only 27 years old and I figure he still hays about 10 more years left behind that arm if he is not injured or talent hits occur. Does anybody believe that he could reach 350 wins? That would be twenty wins a season over the next 11 years. If so, would that be enough to rename the Cy Young Award after him? |

A great pitcher in a four man rotation will win many, many games. Zito may win 350.
As for renaming the award, let's chat after Zito wins #500 and has 750 complete games. |

With June rolling around, I just signed Zito to a nice extension, a seven year deal worth 12,500,000 per year. I think that is a deal for an ace and show-stopper type pitcher. I have him signed through the age of 35, so, hopefully he will retire in Pinstripes with the Yankees. The guy is still rolling through 2006 (10-1, 12 GS, 0.64 ERA, 28/74 BB/K, .156 OAVG, 0.82 WHIP)

With a four-man rotation, and with how good Zito is, I don't think he will have much trouble winning at least 20 games per year, unless he gets injured.

Update on Barry Zito:
2006 Stats: 40 GS, 30-3, 1.83 ERA, 320.1 IP, 98/255 BB/K, .160 OAVG, 0.86 WHIP 2007 Stats: 36 GS, 27-2, 1.62 ERA, 273.0 IP, 97/178 BB/K, .146 OAVG, 0.86 WHIP Career Stats: (Thru End of 2007) 182-47, 2.58 ERA, 2050.1 IP, 61 CG, 22 SHO, 671/1719 BB/K, 1.01 WHIP This guy keeps on trucking along, hopefully he keeps this work up as he is at the prime age of 29. This guy is a future hall-of-famer if no injuries occur and I don't see 350 victories being any difficulty for this gentlemen. |

I remember having Zito and Derek Lowe dominate for my Yankee team. Lowe goes down with a career ender and Zito goes down with a season ender. Hope I don't jinx you
