Zone Rating

Hey guys, quick question. If I have a Zone rating of +38, does that mean we have saved 38 runs? Is that number compared to an average defense. I just wanna know if Zone rating means runs saved. Thanks

Yep, I believe it is runs saved over a replacement level player.

It's actually runs saved above an average player at the position in question. So in your case Bucky36, that means that your team has saved 38 runs above average. At least I think you're asking about a team zone rating in this instance. That would make your team an above average defensive team, which is an oft overlooked, but very important component for a team to have, particularly up the middle defense.

Yup. One of my favorite "roles" to play is taking over a very small market team and build a super-cheap "pitch to contact + amazing defense" roster. The upside is limited, but they can be good enough to win some games while you make a little money, rebuild fan interest, and stock some depth.
