Exclamation Error: archive has illegal number of players

What does this mean? My league will not advance to the next day.

The next day is supposed to show the rookie (first year) draft crop, if that makes any difference.

Whats your draft set to? sounds like too few rounds. If it's too low the league wont have enough players to draft (unless its a historical league then low rounds is ok)

How many ML teams do you have, how many levels?

let's start with this, if not i have 2 other ideas.

well it is a fictional league that I converted from an online league that I am in. I made a copy of the league folder and then replaced a couple files (maybe gmdata, coaches, human_managers), I dunno, for it to even load properly. I was able to manage all the teams and play one day's worth of games. Then I got the error message when I tried to advance to the next day.

The league (16 teams) has three minor league levels and the draft rounds is 11 or 12.

Trying to get a leg up in your league? anyway, ok now I am stumped.
Were you able to run the draft?
Are the minors no completely full?
what happens if you turn ghost players on?

well it was more to see what would happened if I halved my fab interest, because that is the penalty for relocating my team.

No, I could not advance to the next day, THAT is the day the draft pool is released,

so I dunno, I assume this is more a problem of not knowing how, or if, a =n online league can be copied and then somehow run solo.

I could only play the one day of games and that is it: no advancing to the next day, the day the draft pool was released ( sorry if I earlier said the day of the draft).

i guess my question may be more: how can you copy an online league so it will work as a solo league?

I will contact a guy from my online league who i believe has done the same thing, not sure if he did but he was accused of doing so, maybe he can help ya. Otherwise I have no ideas.

Usually you get permission from the commish and even then it's typically a dead or significantly changed league in order to prevent cheating.

Not sure why you need to know what happens for sure. It seems pretty obvious what the consequences of reduced fan interest would be. Is the commish aware of what you're doing? What about the other owners? If the answer is no to either, I'd question why you want to be in an online league.

Well, (DUH) there is extremely tight finances in this league and i wanted to know for sure, not "pretty obvious" what halving my fan interest would do to my budget.

And, gosh, is the commissioner aware? I dunno. Are you gonna tell on me?

And I couldn't give a crap about you questioning why I'd want to be in an online league. The tenor and implications of your questions tempt me to iquestion if you go around trying to make sure everybody acts according to your definition of morally acceptable. But I'll resist the temptation. Because if I didn't, then I would come across as a moralistic, judgmental prick.

I'm not sure, but it might mean that the no. of players in your roster or in the other teams in your league has exceeded the maximum no. of players you have allowed for each team. Check your roster as well as those of the other teams in your league. If this is the case, remove/release some of the players. (You have to be in the commissioner mode to remove/release players in the other teams).

By the way, this can happen also if you have very few players. To fill up your roster go the LEAGUE SETUP and press the FILL TEAMS WITH FICTIONAL PLAYERS.This will fill up all teams with generated fictional players up to the roster limit.

Also, you mentioned that you have 3 minor levels but your draft is set only to 11 or 12. This is not enough... The rule of thumb is that you have to generate 5 rounds for each minor level. Following this logic, you should set your draft to 15 or 16.
