Bummer, I was hoping that the time off was because they were trying to stretch him out to be a starter. That one inning throws that theory out the window though.

His career high in IP in an appearance is 4.1, earlier this year, so I'm guessing that he probably could start if needed.

I was thinking it might be because Scranton didn't have a LH reliever and they were going to promote Venditte and wanted him to be available to pitch that day if they did (As it happens they promoted someone else).

How many hits has he given up?

Not bad at all. I'm anxious to see what the Yanks have in store for him. I really do hope he gets a shot.

Agreed. If my maths is right I make that a 1.16 WHIP, which is pretty good.

I'm hoping he gets promoted to AAA at the end of the year like he did last season to AA (He pitched in 2 games and the playoffs for Trenton last time). Of course depending on how the Yankees bullpen looks a September call up isn't impossible.

2/3 of an inning for Venditte last night, striking out both batters he faced.

Season totals: 46 games, 3-6, 2.70 ERA, 80.0 IP, 29 BB, 79 K.

3 innings for Venditte last night, allowing 4 hits and an ER, with 4 Ks.

Season totals: 47 games, 3-6, 2.71 ERA, 83.0 IP, 29 BB, 83 K.

I make that a 1.15 WHIP and 9.0 K/9.

Go Venditte! I would like to see this kid put up numbers more like the second-to-last post. Two posts above this one.

He's coming up in September, I could lay down a million dollar bet on that one. Hopefully he makes the spring training cut next season, and finally get out of the minors.

It would be pretty awesome to see him pitch in the majors in September.

You'd lay a million bucks on him jumping from AA to MLB this season? That's... a risky bet.

He never said it would be his own money

People do sometimes get September call-ups from AA though.

The only reason I can see them not bringing him up, is:

A: They already have the depth at the AAA level that could be serviceable as call-ups, and

B: They don't want to start the ML service time clock on the guy.

I was looking at the NY Yankees depth chart the other day, and they do have pretty good pitching depth through AAA. That, and I dunno that the Steinbrenners would actually be willing to start Venditte's ML service time clock yet.

So, I guess I should probably retract that offer for a million dollar bet, eh?

But, it would still be cool to see him get the call-up. Maybe the Yankees could suffer a couple of injuries to give him a chance, eh? Here's hoping!

Pretty dire outing for VEnditte last night. 3 IP, 7 ER, 10 H, 1 BB and (unsurprisingly) a loss. He did K 3 though.

Totals for the year:

51 games, 3-7, 3.40 ERA, 90.0 IP, 31 BB, 88 K.

1.23 WHIP, 8.8 K/9.
