How long before you get fired?

I'm rounding the home stretch in my 2nd season of my Padres franchise. The first year I finished 83-79, which exceeded my owner's expectations. This year I was hanging in the Wild Card Race (the Giants took off to a 10+ game lead on everybody by July) but had a horrid 5-18 run through mid-July and early August. Traded some big salaries for prospects at the trade deadline and my team continues to slump and get blown out routinely.

Owner expectations for the year were to play .500 ball, and I'm currenly 11 games under that. The owner has gone from worried to upset and I'm curious as to how long owners usually take before they fire GMs.

The owner (John Moores, left over from imported OOTP11), is listed as "tolerant" under the patience level.

I've been fired a couple of times before the all star break, when the owners expectations were high, and the team performance was less then desirable.

Obviously, there's no cut and dried answer, but if you're at that stage- and apparently you are -where you're concerned, then I'd wager it's imperative you change something or do something to ease those concerns. Part of the suspense and logic, or the lack of either, is not possessing definite information about what will transpire. Roll your dice and take your chances. If the writing's on the wall, better find an eraser.

Sidenote I found interesting. After responding to your question, I check a few teams in the league I'm playing and stumbled across an owner who was 'worried.' I'm not sure I've every seen that one before, to be honest, and what makes it even more interesting to me is that it's May 16th and his team is in second place in the division, 2 games back of my own. Little early to be concerned, but tells you a little about 'that' guy, eh?

Managing the Giants (fictional) last season, my owner expect me to finish over .500. I did, but with a record of 82-80 and he spent the second half of the season worried. In the off-season, my owner died and his son took over. His patience is shown as unmerciful.

Current expectation is again that I'll finish over .500. When the season began my owner was worried from opening day. I just evened my record at 2-2 and his mood improved to undecided.

I think my team will be well over .500 this year but i don't know if I'll survive unless we can go on a winning streak and get well the record up soon.

in my historical league i was fired by 3 teams in 1 sn. I was fired by the White Stockings in 1875 after 50 or so games, lasted 22 games with Boston Red Stockings, then 12 games with st Louis Brown Stockings. or close to that I had a screenshot but messed up my cut & paste.

I've managed to rattle off 5 wins out of the last 6 and I've pulled to within 10 games of .500. The owner has gone from "upset" back to "worried." Just hoping I can hold onto this franchise because I've been able to draft some guys that are close to being able to contribute next year. I've also stockpiled some prospects through a couple trades.
