Hey guys, my first post, enjoying the heck out of the game, but have run into a problem. during the 2008 season the game froze after being left unattended for about a half hour or so(something that happens all the time if I leave the game on and leave the computer for any length of time)
so I ctl-alt-del the computer and shut down the game, but as I tried to restart the game it came up with an illegal error message. I uninstalled the game and reinstalled it and it still happens. I moved the file from the folder and re-started the game and it worked fine with new or different leagues, just not this one. Is there anyway so maybe fix the league so I can continue? Thanks in advance |

First off welcome aaronck (the Calgary Cannons still exist?)!
It sounds very likely the crash corrupted some files in that particular league. Your options are to use a backup you made of the league (if there is one) or to reset the league (under league options). Resetting the league will basically erase what has been done in the current season and restart the season on opening day. For many users this league reset sometimes needs to be done several times before the problem is fixed so if you reset and get some errors in your second try at the season I'd suggest trying the reset again. Once for me I had to run reset 3 times before the problem was sorted out. Also setting all teams to AI and running the automanager is not a bad idea here either - it seems a little like a refresh button your browser and can fix a lot of nagging game problems. For the future you can avoid that type of crash by always closing the OOTP/STB program when not in use, or disabling powersave or screensaver functions when using the game. Good luck aaronck, I'm confident this advice will work for you, but let us know if there are further or related problems! |

Thanks for your reply, and yes, Calgary still has the Cannons, but this is their last year here...
Thanks for your advice, but I cannot get into the league, the illeagal error message and crash comes just as the league is almost fully loaded, so I can't choose league to reset the league from there, and wasn't on the ball enough to backup my league, so I guess I'm SOL..too bad, the Blue jays were just about to relive their glory days... |

I've never seen league files get so corrupted that the league could not even be opened, but that result may have happened to other people here. You could do a forum search of the tech support forum to see if a similar problem has impacted another user, maybe there is another suggestion there (sounds a lil' doubtful though unfortunately). Good luck. |
