"Its not a question of if you like the Quiz Game or not really.
The point is, all here were thinking that The Boxing Game was being worked on. Then out of the blue comes a Quiz Game.
Are you surprised that people were a little annoyed?"

Yes, totally surprised...

And all I meant by what I said was that just because people are not talking about it, that doesn't mean people are not buying and enjoying it.

"if you care to read again what Jim has just said "

What's with the attidtude? First off, I didn't read it before I posted. I must not have seen it went to a second page yet. I'm sorry this annoyed you....

As for what he said, I'm not going to getinto percentages and what not. And what I said still holds true. You don't KNOW how much of this part is of the whole. Who really cares? All it seems is that they thought it would be a simple addition and it turned out it wasn't. It happens.

Maybe i am wrong but i said a long time ago that i thought the Quiz game was a big mistake. At the time i did say sales would prove it one way or another. From the way Jim has been honest and said so, i was proved right i think.

Now lets again be honest, if a lot of people had bought the Quiz game and liked it ( NOTE I SAID IF A LOT HAD BOUGHT IT ) there would have been a lot of requests for more of the same or at least a fair number of people asking for add ones or a LOT of discussion on the Quiz Game.

As for my attitude, how was i to know you had not read Jim's posting before you posted. As for what i posted, Sorry but i take nothing i said back. I have read my posting again and i can see nothing wrong in what i said.
If i said anything that might have upset you i am Sorry about that.
With Respect
Danny

And then there's this lone little poster sitting over here reading with interest.

I don't think I've ever posted in this product's forum but I imagine I'm reasonably familiar in some of the others. But I've been following TB since before the Trunzo's associated themselves with .400

Following is the right word too, because I haven't bought from them but I watched their product development with interest. Enough interest, in fact, that I ordered the previous release through the .400 store 8 days ago, ordered with what I think are reasonable expectations -- just hoping to get a feel for what the upcoming product would play like (never mind the aesthetics).

Anyhow ... FWIW, I appreciate Jim's comments in this thread and urge him to continue to be straight with his customers / potential customers.

Honestly, the missing role-play aspect may cool my interest in the new product considerably but at least I don't have any sour taste from excuse-making or other bad business practice. And that might just make the difference between a delayed customer and never-will-be-a customer.

.02 from the peanut gallery,
Jon

wildhawke,

First, stop being so melodramatic.

Second, you seem to miss what I was trying to say. At no time did I mean to imply that the Quiz game was not a mistake. Even Jim says he made a mistake on it. I was just pointing out that just because no one is talking about it that doesn't mean that no one is enjoying it.

Yes, sales we below expectations. Yes, it was probably a mistake to do the quiz game before the sim was done. No, I do not consider the game to be a total failure. No, I do not think there is no interest in the product.

So let me take this time to formally request, after the sim is done, more questions for the Quiz game. I think it's a great game and a great encyclopedia. I would love additions to it.

"how was i to know you had not read Jim's posting before you posted. "

Well you know what they say about people who assume...

Your point about the Quiz Game not being a total failure, and you liking it Great.
But in a business sense it was a failure, and to a Company that's important.
The two important things as i see it are

1 It upset i feel a lot of people who felt that the time would have been better spent working on the Boxing Sim.

2 Its pretty obvious to stay in business you need to keep your customers Happy. As you can tell by reading other posts not all are happy with the current situation.

Its not a case of me not being able to respond to the rest of your remarks its just our little discussion will only go from bad to worse and i have no wish to go in that direction.
As you may have noted in my previous post i tried to cool it.
Danny.

*sigh* I don't even know why I try anymore...

"It upset i feel a lot of people who felt that the time would have been better spent working on the Boxing Sim."

I _think_ what you are saying is that you and others are frustrated that the time spent on the quiz game would have been better spent on the sim. Kind of hard to understad the first part of your sentance.

If that is the case, no one is disagreeing with you.

"2 Its pretty obvious to stay in business you need to keep your customers Happy. As you can tell by reading other posts not all are happy with the current situation."

Again, no one is disagreeing with you.

So if we are pretty much in agreement, why are you continueing to push this? I hope this is not an attempt to draw me into a pissing contest....

As for being mad that the game is not out yet? It's just a game, I know a lot of people want it, but it does no good to post on the board about how frustrated you are. It just sounds like whining. You'll live.

"Gatti vs. Ward III..........it's coming!"

I hope it's not a dud. I was extremly unfortunate enough to have missed the first 2 fights. That said, if anyone has them taped (either or both), I would love to get my hands on a copy.

If it's as good as everyone made the second out to be...

My 2-cents: I think Gatti wins easier this time than the first. I think Ward, God Bless him for what he has given to the sport, is simply worn out. If Gatti boxes him early and brawls late, I figure he stops him. Not that Ward doesn't have a chance - considering the way Gatti bleeds, one cut in the wrong place changes everything. However, baring something like that, I have to go with Gatti. He's just got a little more youth on his side and a bit more in his tank.

No one wants the new game more than I do.

However, I'm willing to wait until the new game is done. Done, as in, bug-free. Done, as in, a fully featured SIM.

While it would have been "nice" to have the sim and the role-play game already, we don't and it doesn't help any to bitch about it.

I am very much looking forward to Gatti-Ward III. I think Gatti out-boxed him pretty easily in their second fight, but Gatti boxing in one fight is a miracle......two times against the same guy? I tell you I don't see it happening. I will always put my money on Gatti brawling if he has a chance....and Ward will give him a ton of chances.

I think these guys are developing an intense rivalry, they don't dislike each other, but I think there is a tremendous amount of pride at stake here and they both want to win the rubber match in the worst way..........I think they are going to slug it out right from the opening bell. That should make for some pretty sweet action.

Hey Jim,
I was thinking, since many of the hardcore fans of the game are getting impatient waiting for the new game, perhaps you could let us have some of the ratings for fighters not in TF2001. Or even new ratings for current fighters. If you would do this I would volunteer to enter them into my TF2001 Data.mdb blank file, by hand if necessary, then distribute to all. Throw us a bone, please. We've been patient, I feel, and the last official update to ratings dates back to November of 2001.

Thanks
Cube
