I've tried to do a search to find the same problem I am having but haven't found any threads that seem to talk about it.
Here is a copy of my post to Steve at .400 Studios. Everytime I try to sim "X # of season's" the program will crash. I have tried 50 years, 20 years, and 10 years, each time it has crashed. The first one was 11 years into the sim, the second was only 1 year in, and the final time it happened it was 8 years into the sim. I do have the latest drivers and meet all of the system requirements in order to run the game. My specs are as follows... Epox 8rda+ mother board AMD XP1700 1 gig PC3200 DDR Ram ATI Radeon 9700 Pro 128 meg 8x AGP 2 80 gig Maxtor Harddrives 52x Creative Labs CD-Rom 48x16x48 Cendyne CD-Burner NEC MultiSync 97F monitor Running Windows XP(SP1 included on disk) The harddrive that has OOTP5 on it has 60 gigs of free space. I also have 1535 MB of virtual memory. I have disabled all programs running in the background, except the system, service files and the explorer.exe, as per your tech support page, but still have errors while simming "x # of seasons". Any help you could give would be appreciated. Thank you, John Steve's reply, Don't tell me, you are using "Total Minors" rosters, correct? My reply, I am not sure. I started a new league, changed only the league name and had the computer control all teams and then simmed. I have looked at the minors and the rosters are not completely full(A,AA,AAA) Some teams have only 1 outfielder, and others are missing infielder positions, and this is only in the minors, all teams are good in the majors. I remember OOTP4 had a fill minors button you could click, but for this league I did not do that. I just check my League Settings-Basic setup and I do have the default setting of Simulate Minors---Enabled. On the Advanced setup I have done nothing but look at the league totals. Last night I tried to sim 3 seasons, and did not have a problem, so I am not sure if it was because I selected too many years, ie. 50,20, and 10. I will try another 3 years of simming tonight, or may try a new league and see if I can sim 20 seasons. If you need more information, Please let me know what to give you. Thank you, John Steve's reply I asked about that "roster set" because it tends to have some problems. I don't know what the cause is as I can sim for 50+ seasons w/o a problem. I would make sure that no other programs are running when I try it though. My reply, I have no other programs running in the background. They were all disabled except the system, service, and explorer.exe files. I tried a new league again last night to sim 20 seasons and made it to 5/10/2011, so I managed 8 years again, which is where it seems to always quit on me. Is there another roster set I should try? Should I DISABLE the simming of the minors? Should I Un-License the game, delete it, and then re-install? Steve's reply, I'm at a loss since I have not experienced the problem either of the bottom two things listed "may" help. ---End of Steve's and my conversation---- Now I am at a loss as to what may be causing the problem. I have simmed with the minors ENABLED and have also tried with the minors DISABLED. I have turned off the 3D mode and sound and then tried to sim another 10 seasons but the game still crashes. At this point the game is not playable to me because I am trying to sim some 50-60 seasons and then want to take over the worst team in Manager Mode. I have own ootp3,4 and now 5, but this is the only version I have had a problem simming multiple seasons. If anyone has any ideas or has run into the same problem but found a way to resolve the issue, Please give me any information you can. Thank you, John |
