Have you deleted any files or had any crashes or lockups?

What was the last thing that you were able to do that worked properly? Have you run defrag or scandisk recently? How much RAM and free HD space do you have?

Steve,
the issue that captainstarball is addressing is one in which when running the FA portion of the game. Day 1, some teams are experiencing lockups and shutdowns when they attempt to right click on players in the free agent pool to make offers. This doesn't happen with all of the teams only a few.

I've talked to another online league owner who had this same issue and apparantly Markus had him send the league.dat file to him to get corrected. Not sure if this rings any bells or not.

Thanks for the help Steve. Like thickman said, it seems to have been a problem with the game file.

Ok, I can avoid that problem by not going near the league file after I restart. However, since I got that illegal operation my game has been acting very strangely. I double-click on OOTP5 and it shows up on the taskbar. However, it doesn't load. Sometimes the title screen shows up after 4 or 5 minutes but usually it just doesn't load. I hit ctrl-alt-del and it shows up as "not responding." When I try to hit end task my computer crashes.

I assume this a problem that started with the league file since I have not made any other changes to my computer.

Have you tried reinstalling the game in a new directory?

captainstarball,

If it were my installation I would follow these steps.

1. move all league directories to a backup location
2. unlicense and uninstall OOTP (make sure the directories are deleted
3. Run defrag on the HD
4. restart computer and reinstall OOTP (freshly downloaded copy)
5. apply license
6. redownload new copy of league file

This should take care of the slow loading problem, and if the the league file still has the error - then I would say the league file is corrupted.

It "might" also be that the commissioner and you are using different version levels ?? That shouldn't cause the problem your mentioning - but I would always make sure the versions used are the same.

i'm almost 100% positive that the file issue that we're experiencing has nothing to do with the illegal operation you're experiencing. I've had the game die on my multiple times when trying to enter those FA offers yet every other league works just fine.
