Favourite players to sign
After a playing a few times (due to lost games) I've noticed how I often end up trading for the same players during the first seasons or so (I usually play with the Mets, so I have the same needs)
SP: Brandon Beachy and Kyle Drebak - both are young, good pitchers that you can trade for without giving up too much. C: Jesus Flores - you catcher with the ability to hit. 2B/UTIL: Maicer Izturis - cheap to get and very useful since he can play three infield positions. OF: Lastings Milledge - good D and useful at the plate. I usually also get Colby Rasmus for a good price the first season and then sign him to a 3 year dear before he hits arbitration. So, who are your "standard guys" to trade for? |

Placido Polanco. Always liked the guy as a player, and he performs great in iOOTP. Great pinch hitter too.
Scott Kazmir - performed above his ability in two different leagues. Russell Martin - drafted him twice and he hit .330, 20 HR and 100 RBI both times. Then he wanted big $$ to re-up so I traded him for Buster Posey. Here are two tempting guys to avoid, especially if you're drafting a new league: Roy Halladay and A-Rod. After 1 season, Halladay drops from a 5-star to a 3-star and A-Rod can't hit. Happened in three different leagues now. Unbelievably I was able to move both guys in my two leagues that I drafted from scratch, but in the 2011 replay you can only move Halladay; A-Rod exercises his stinkin' 10/5 rights and you're stuck with him! |

Michael Pineda
He starts as a 4-star potential, but becomes a 5-star (3 out of 4 times). And he costs like 1 million to resign. |

The way to trade a 10/5 player is by first demoting them to the minors before trading them. By demoting them to the minors it causes their player morale to plummet and "forces" them to want to leave. The caveat is to make sure you are 100% ready to trade then otherwise they could wreak havoc among your team morale. Supernovae |
