Following the Huntsville Explorers! [MLB Expansion Dynasty)
The Boston Red Sox won the 2011 World Series over the Colorado Rockies.
For 2012, we have an expansion. The Huntsville Explorers join the AL East. The Toronto Blue Jays move to the NL Central. The Portland Hipsters join the NL West. The Houston Astros move to the AL Central. I will be running the Huntsville Explorers acting as GM/Manager, playing out all the games, pitch by pitch. I made it through the 35 round expansion draft and free agency. Now we are ready for opening day! However, let's do a run down on how our roster came to be. Keep reading! |

Obviously I am a Reds fan. I feel like I gave them A LOT of talent in return for what I got. I had to have Bruce and Cozart though ![]() Fielder signed with us for $200,000,000 over 8 years. Barely got him. Crazy. Coffey for $12,000,000 over 3 years. Gonzalez $7,000,000 for 2 years, with the 2nd year being a team option. I feel like I got a good core right away and had to spend the bucks being the AL East. Gonna be an interesting season! Should be fun to follow, hope you guys enjoy it. Oh, and since I highly disagree with the closers role, I'll play matchups and use the best pitcher for the situation to close out games. Last edited by 0-2, 2 BB; 07-17-2011 at 08:11 PM. |

Opening Day is here and the Huntsville Explorers host the Detroit Tigers to kick off 2012!
It was Justin Verlander on the hill for the Tigers and Brandon Beachy for the Explorers. Alex Avila had the first RBI in Rocket City Ballpark as he drove in Austin Jackson in the first inning with a single. Detroit took a 1-0 lead but it didn't last long. Prince Fielder hit the first home run in Huntsville history in the bottom of the 1st inning driving in Zachary Walters, who reached on a walk. The Explorers took a 2-1 lead. Things were looking good going into the 5th inning as Huntsville had a 3-1 lead after Jay Bruce added a solo HR in the 4th. But the lead quickly disappeared as Brandon Beachy walked 2, allowed 2 hits and had an error committed behind him totaling for four runs and giving the Tigers a 5-3 lead. In the top of the 6th the Tigers add on two more as the night is done for Beachy. Sam LeCure comes in and pitches out of the inning. Score is 7-3 at that point. That ends up being the final score of the game. LeCure, Morales and Guerrero pitch 3.2 scoreless innings to hold the Tigers at 7, but Justin Verlander finished strong going 8 innings and striking out 9 for the win. Next game: Max Scherzer @ Ricky Romero. |

How are your Huntsville team doing? Is that Huntsville, Alabama or what state is it in? If its Huntsville, Alabama is the Brewers AA team still in Huntsville also? I would like to hear more of your league.
