OOTP11 vs. OOTP12
How much better is OOTP12 than OOTP11 at this point?

it will take me some time to know for sure, but not much from what I can see early on.
I am not saying it's a bad version...but 11 was very very good...just a very tight game. Last edited by PSUColonel; 07-16-2011 at 07:41 PM. |

12 is an improvement and has enough new features for me.

For me the league total modifier (autocalc) feature is worth the price alone. I used to spend a day or two copying league totals and calculating modifiers in Excel. I'm not happy with the "Country" and "State" issue with imported v11 leagues, but understand that it is cosmetic.
Reading the generally positive posts from historical players has intrigued me enough to consider trying one. My impression is that the level of satisfaction with v12 correlates closely to how problem areas affect individual playing styles.

It depends largely on what your priorities are. Some new features and improvements might not be relevant at all to the way you play the game. Or, they might make a massive difference in your experience if they were aspects of the game that dissatisfied you previously.
I would say that OOTP12 is not a huge improvement because OOTP11 was very tough to beat. But it has a few key features in the historical area that make a major difference for me personally. Some of the immersion, fictional league, and financial features are a big hit with certain folks. I really can't understand how anyone would be disappointed with any version of OOTP since the 2006 debacle. Worst case, you will spend about $30 or $40, get quite a number of bug fixes and nice new features, and you will help keep development of this game going. |

If you don't play with financials or historical, then there is minimal improvement (or if not improvement, then there are minimal new features) Not to say it isn't great, because 11 certainly was, but for non-financial players, as of now, $40 is not a good price to upgrade.
Just my opinion of course

It's tough because 11 was such an incredible game. If that happened to be the last version of OOTP ever (thank the stars it wasn't), I would play it happily forever.
I was skeptical about 12, very much so. But the improvements have made it worth a purchase again, especially in terms of the financials (the "preview" feature in league setup alone is a great addition!). |

For someone who is also considering an upgrade could anyone (briefly) describe what is better about historical play. That is my favorite part of the game.

The biggest change is with the new "simulation module", the entire season is "simmed" three times prior to each league year to provide extremely accurate league total modifiers, and therefore extremely accurate results.

The in game save feature is worth the upgrade price for me. However, I have not used it as much as I thought I would...yet. As for the price sent on 12, I send more money on other stuff like gas for my car or gambling at the casino, then on version 12, and I get FAR more enjoyment playing OOTP!

Reserve Clause era rules are great for those who enjoy early historical play.

Could someone talk about the upgrade with financials? I'm really interested but 11 is great and I feel like posters have talked about alot of bugs.

That said, 12 still hasn't hit the level of "bug quashing" that 11 has. Of course, 11 has already had its final patch, and 12 still has patches yet to come. So, it is just one of those things you deal with any newish release. Wait for the final patch, or work with the game knowing there is going to be improvements later. |

There isn't much of an improvement imo. They are 95% the same exact game. Just depends if that extra 5% appeals to you or not. I could take it or leave it personally.

I love the new contract negotiations dialogue. I think it adds a lot to the realism. Financials are also more realistic with the player development budget and the ability to scout countries with associated costs.
