Will the game run on this?

Sorry if this is a lame question. But for the first time I'm getting an iphone. Should arrive in less than a week. The data I have right now is that it is an...

Phone/Device
iPhone 3GS - 8GB Black

Don't know if it is a 1st or 2nd generation device.

I'm not swift when it comes to special phones and apps but was just wondering if it might be possible for me to play the iOOTP game on this. Or do I need more specific info about the phone that is coming?

Thanks for your time. The old man is wondering and hoping. : )

Just a lame update on my journey to iOOTP. Got my iphone yesterday and charged it up and went it to set it up last night and purchase iOOTP.

I know it's because I'm dumb with this stuff but since my wife is using our email address for her iphone (1 year) they won't let me make an account unless I have another email address. Hard to believe. Surely there are many homes with more than one iphone.

Anyway...I just cancelled out. A rain delay and there wasn't even any rain. : ) Hope to do some work on getting signed up today with the wisdom of my daughter next to me.

iOOTP and the 1965 White Sox...hopefully later today. : )

Connect your iPhone to your Computer with iTunes. It should automatically open iTunes.

Select "your device" on the left side under "Devices".

Select "Apps" and make sure the check is set next to iOOTP 2011.

Click "Synchronize" on the bottom right side.

Note: maybe some names are different, I have a german iTunes version here.

Super thanks Palli...

My sweet daughter had been working on this for sometime but she always dl's directly to her iphone bypassing the pc.

You hit the nail on the head and she took a copy of your directions for future reference.

The game is loaded. Rain delay is over. Uh...er...have to finish mowing...then cleanup and go to my awesome grandson's baseball game (Connor is almost 8...batting .750) and then finally later this evening I'll try to get iOOTP going for my first game.

Thank you very much for the help!!

No problem, glad to be helpful.

Now have fun at your grandson's baseball game and later with trying out iOOTP.

Thanks again Palli. Grandson only got to bat once and struckout but still smiled...a little. Still batting over .700. Game ended in a 1-1 tie...the ump did not adjust the mechanical pitching machine and it was high and fast for the boys.

Anyway just now playing my first game with my 65 White Sox at the Yankees after one week in the season simmed. Keep going in my wife's room and showing her the screens. : ) We've been married 41 years and I took SOM with me on our honeymoon. So she knows all about my lifelong gaming. : )

Wondering if the game has pitch by pitch (my fav). But this is just fantastic. What a treat for the old man.

Thanks again for all the help on this thread and thank you Markus for a splendid creation. Fun at the old ballpark...on my phone. Mercy...

It depends on what you mean by pitch-by-pitch. If you're referring to the pitch-by-pitch control that MLB: The Show or Major League Baseball 2K11 has, then no. (i)OOTP is designed to simulate the batter/pitcher interaction based on the ratings of the pitcher versus batter and sometimes just pure luck.

If this is your first time with an (i)OOTP the game, then welcome!

I'll try to show you a few screens that will get you up an running into your first game. I took the screen captures from the main OOTP site, but the first image shows the Manager Home screen. It can be accessed by selecting the baseball icon on the top of the screen. By selecting, "Play at Arizona" you can begin to play a single game. It will take you through three screens to setup how you want to simulate the game (what you want to control over), then your pitching and finally your lineup.

The second screen shot is from an actual game where you can choose to simulate the game, inning-by-inning or half-inning by selecting "Quick Play" or simulating batter-by-batter with "pitch" or "swing." The Strategies and the field icon in the bottom middle of the screen will provide a wide variety of strategy options and detailed information. For example: If you want to view your pitcher's pitch count then select the field icon, and select Batter/Pitcher and it will be displayed on that screen.

I hope that helps!

Thanks Supernovea...but I've played OOTP for years and was just referring to the pitch by pitch mode for the game. No biggie. Play by play is still very good and detailed. Read somewhere on the forum that Markus said maybe pitch by pitch will come in the next version or so.

Believe me...I already gave a quick study to the steps so as I posted above I had my first play by play game last night. But for some reason I got the game setup without ever hitting the baseball icon. At least I don't remember hitting it. So I'll check that out next time.

OOTP 12 and iOOTP...really great games!!

The pitch by pitch feature is something we want to look into for the next version (iOOTP 2012). It might be possible to add it as an option.
